I have one of those neat little Ice Cream machines that you freeze the inside bowl then pour the milk, sugar, cream etc in and it freezes in about 20-30 minutes. Made some with fresh peaches the other night, & it was wonderful. That is, until I put what was left in my deep freezer. It was hard as a rock & grainey after that.Anyone got a suggestion or recipe so that it stays" scoopable" like commercial ice cream??? Thanks!

The recipe we use has a can of dime brand condensed milk in it. That serves as part of your sugar. NOT grainy. You might try that.

my recipe is a "cooked" recipe and is the absolutely best ice cream I have ever eaten. I like to put in "bits of brickle" and make Butter Brickle flavor. Or, cut it strawberries. Yum
Not my name on ebay.

if you whip the egg yolks and sugar together over a double boiler before you mix it with the cream and other stuff you will find it's less grainy...we don't buy ice cream, the store is 35 miles away, and it melts before we get it home....

I think it's because of the water content in the milk imabride2b. If you use just cream instead of any milk, it should turn out smoother, or you can substitute sweetened condensed milk for the milk and some of the sugar like jdk156 suggests.
P.S. jdk156, isn't that a Kestner character doll?

jdk156, Kestner made dolls before and after the turn of the century (German). I believe 156 was a model number, so those dolls were marked on the back of the neck JDK156. They're the cream of the crop in dolls!
