Several ISP's have sent out cease and desist letters to over 100,000 customers to stop trading music files. Now AOL is identifying those who upload large data files, which are inevitably music or video. Claiming that the problem is not piracy but rather "bandwidth hogs", the industry is asking for, and apparently getting, legislation that would allow the ISP's to block large file transfers, substitute fake files or direct users to other sites. The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, which allows duplication of copyrighted material for personal use, will be invoked to fight this legislation.

with local ISP's bending over backwards to provide services in even the smallest communities, I just can't figure out why ANYONE would sign up with any of the big nationwide providers....AO-hell, America's favorite way to hide from the internet!!!
