Should we be worried? The last time he went to his ranch for a month the Towers came down. Does he know something and wants to be out of town, and out of harms way?

Hi there choco!

Yes, making all those keen decision has to be taxing. I wonder if Cheney will come out of hiding while he's away, or is he still on life-support?

Yes, we should be very worried. Since I live near the White House I keep tabs on his announced departures and when he tucks that kindergarden book under his arm and heads for Florida to read, I anticipate an ominous happening.

A month? WOW!

Now, he is desperately looking for an excuse to attack Iraq so something may be about to happen. If his timing is on target, there may not be any elections in Novermber and his "patriots" will be energized - and his polls will rise again.

Should we be worried? I'm not.

Remember the Senate and the House are also taking a month long vacation.

Hi KD and Helen

Helen maybe you should get out of town to!

How much does it cost us when he goes to the ranch? It's always a working vacation, so we pay a lot of money for him to be out of Washington and at his ranch. The country is in a mess, but he goes on vacation?

It's really a terrible feeling to distrust this administration the way I do. I wish it was different, but I just can't help questioning every move they make.

I just don't know if it makes a difference. Whether he stays in DC or goes off to herd cattle, he's the same ineffective dumbf*ck.

Didn't Presidents before Bush take vacations? Maybe not.. anyway

President Bush will mix policy and pleasure while spending nearly a month on summer vacation at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.White House press secretary Ari Fleischer said Friday the president plans to leave Washington after his annual physical Aug. 6 and will stay in Texas until about Labor Day.While in Texas, he will travel two or three days a week to promote his plans for international security, homeland security and economic security.Aides have said the economy will be a major issue of events and trips planned around the president's August respite.

I think that all Presidents are always 'working' whether on vacation, or in D.C. He had the colonoscopy, and he gave reigns over to the VP, because he was being sedated, I think they do that even if a President is having wisdom teeth pulled.

There is not much left to trust... and we certainly can't be lulled into a false sense of securtiy with this crazy administration. Anybody that trusts George Bush has nothing between their ears. I just returned from the grocery and pharmacy with emergency supplies.

If I could afford it, I would leave the country until the George reign of terror is over.

Helen - I have always been one to keep an extra deep pantry because you never know. But with the drought we are having nation wide and problems with gene altered corn etc. - I am laying in an extra latge supply of staples incase the price goes up sharply. I usually buy flour rice and corn meal in large bags antway - 25 to 50 lb. because it is so much cheaper that way. But I think I will add a few 5 gallon jugs of peanut oil and some other basics like legumes and bulk spice.

Good idea, Gravid. The price will never be cheaper and nothing will be wasted.
