ABC News is reporting that a terrorist training camp in Marion, Alabama was uncovered by Scotland Yard while monitoring AlQaeda websites. The camp, known as Ground Zero USA, is apparently one of many made possible by the US' lenient laws regarding military training facilities. Bullet-riddled police cars, school buses and mannequins were found throughout the grounds.

My first thought was that it was probably alongside the militia.

It would be interesting to find out the age of the people at this camp.

This story from the Atlanta Journal Constitution today denies the charge that the camp is a terrorist training camp.
Officials say Alabama camp not training terrorists
"Marion Police Chief Tony Buford said he was misquoted. Buford said the camp is used by police officers from Alabama and Louisiana for training that includes target practice."

Buford originaly said "It was rumoured people were coming to train who wanted to do bodily harm to people in this country,"
That was the beginning of the tale.
Moral of the story....Be careful where you go to target practice. You may be spirited away by Ashcroft...not charged and held incomunicado for a long time. LOL!

Next logical response - make firing ranges illegal if you don't belong to a government agency. Why give the "bad" guys a chance to be skilled?

"Target practice? " I know little about militia groups. Do they usually target civilians in buses and homes, and police vehicles? I did not know that. Something to think about.

Did ‘Jihad’ arms course visit U.S.? Mark Yates Involved MSNBC (story dated December 27
Where did you read about civilians in buses and homes? I read somewhere that there were some old junked police cars in the area along with maniquins. This story lacks any credibility so far. I searched all the papers that I could find in the Alabama area and could not find any mention of the problem. Isn't that strange?
The link above is to a story writen December 27 about a camp called ground zero in Alabama. It has been abandoned according to the article.
Check it out and see what you think.

And these are current and conflicting stories.
Terrorist Training Camp in Alabama
Another story....
And then there is this one....
Officials say Alabama camp not training terrorists
Associated Press
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Osama bin Laden is not running a training camp in Alabama, officials say.
An investigation has uncovered no evidence that a camp near Marion was used as a terrorist training facility.
ABC News reported Thursday night that the camp could have possible ties to bin Laden's terror network.
The Marion Camp, called Ground Zero USA is operated by a Tuscaloosa man.
Marion Police Chief Tony Buford said he was misquoted. Buford said the camp is used by police officers from Alabama and Louisiana for training that includes target practice.
A spokesman for Gov. Don Siegelman and Department of Public Safety officials said they are aware of the reports. But after conducting background investigations of the site they found no reason to be concerned.

Helen, this quote is right from the first ABC article link:
"Bullet-riddled police cars and a school bus with mannequin targets are scattered around the property. Inside a huge shed is an equally macabre scene — shot-up mannequins, male and female, in domestic settings, some with red, blood-like stains on them."
