"When we talk about Enron, we ought to talk about all the players," Foley said on the House floor. "And there seems to be some real mischief. In fact, Mr. Corzine used $60 million to run for the Senate. Goldman Sachs was hyping Enron stocks past $90. They encouraged people to buy it."
Yes, I agree, all involved should testify. Why not?

Where does Robert Rubin come in on all of this? Rubin is a top official at Citigroup Inc. He is the chairman of the executive committee. Earlier this week we learned that Citigroup knew what Enron was doing ... and actually help Enron pull off its financial trickery.
Certain Democratic Senators, Joseph Lieberman and Carl Levin, for instance, have plans to call some Citigroup executives to testify & under oath – about Citigroup dealings with Enron. They won't call Rubin.
Does it seem a bit odd to you that these Democratic senators are eager to issue subpoenas for Bush White House aids in their Enron investigation, but they won't call a former Clinton Cabinet secretary to the hearing table?

You really have to gag watching Lieberman wringing his hands about the Republicans letting cheats pilfer poor people's retirement funds when he almost single handedly defeated proposals to close the loopholes 5 yrs ago.

Does anyone seriously think they are not a bunch of crooks in both parties?

DeSquirrel - Exactly!! That's what I haven't been able to understand. If they were 'clean' themselves, I could see them blaming the other side for so many things.

Its called a diversion, expect to see more of it as the elections approach. When you can not defend the crookedness and corruption of your own little darlings, point out everyone else's shortcomings.

gravid - I believe there are a few, but would agree that they're few and far between.
Just surprised that they don't see how they also had a part in what's going down. Would be nice if some were able to say, "It's a problem that needs to be dealt with"...and then work towards change so it doesn't happen again. But no...just more mud slinging and some of it is bouncing back.
Going to be a nasty 3 months.

mlecher - They aren't 'my little darlings'. I'd vote for a third party candidate if I thought they had a chance in heck of winning.

If they aren't your little darlings, you Do seem a wee bit biased to call yourself an independent voter.

And you don't Helen LOL
Since my party didn't make it...I've left with what's there. Just like you are. Guess I'm just dealing with it better than you are.

Lieberman has political ambitions. He intends to run for the Presidency if Gore doesn't.
