[i]Documents Show Clinton White House, Democrat Congress Involved in Attempted Audit of Judicial Watch
Documents Turned Over Four Years Late (Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes public corruption, announced today that the IRS released documents showing a direct link between an attempted audit of Judicial Watch and contacts with the IRS by the Clinton White House and key Democrats in Congress[/i].
As a result of court litigation, the documents were turned over to Judicial Watch under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) on July 8, 2001, nearly four years late.

Should they be any less curious about JW than JW is about them? The lateness of the compliance raises the hypothetical question of whether a FOIA request by a bogus company or organization should be honored. Does anyone know what the requirements are for the FOIA? Perhaps they were seeing if JW was some kind of illegitimate group before complying.

Stu - Maybe someone here will come forward to answer your question. Just a couple of weeks ago [here on AW], many were ringing the praises of JW when it was announced they were doing an investigation on Bush.
Kind of surprised me, as during the clinton administration JW was investigating clinton on several issues. But hey....fair to one side.... fair to another.
But, many times Bill O'Reilly said [during the clinton administration] that the IRS was investigating/auditing those who were speaking out against clinton's policies or his dealings they didn't believe to be above board. He himself said he'd been audited three years in a row, and believed it was coming from the administration. He threatened to ask for an investigation if it continued. It didn't. [that I've heard him speak about].
