My husband had (maybe a minor cold)sick couple of days and now he is just fine-good for him. Well I am always really careful and spray door knobs with lysol and use the anti-bacterial soaps and what not when some one in this house has a sniffle or a cough or whatever. Now here I am up at 3 O'clock in the morning because I can't sleep. I have a runny nose, a headache, a sore throat, chills and can't sleep because my husband is snoring too loud and I feel like crap. As it would turn out he admitted to me -loving husband that he is of giving me a bye kiss in my sleep before he went to work in the morning when he was sick. He infected me with his cold and whatever in my sleep- darn him.
I have a whole medicine cabinet of cold, sinus, allergy, flu and whatever products- what works for you?

Hi there,
I don't REALLY have an answer for you regaring the BEST medicine, but I like Nyquil, the have a daytime anti drowsy and their nighttime works wonders! BUT -- about spraying your house with Lysol and using the anti bacterial hand soap (I don't use them and am rarely sick, AND have a 4 year old in pre-school and I parent help and am SURROUNDED by 20 runny nosed kids all school year. My daughter doesn't get sick either. ANYWAY, LOL, my husband always seems to get sick -- must just be in the genes!) OK, I read somewhere that using the anti bacterial soaps and sprays actually makes viruses stronger after awhile, a the get immune to it. Sort of the same as when you don't finish all your anti-biotics, so the virus learns to re-sist because you didn't "kill" it all the way. YOu migh want to do some research on that. Just FYI.

LOL! Gee, I sound like a bozo....here is an article stating what I summarized a bit what I mostly meant is down toward the bottom of the page. I have a pre-schooler so I was thinking of her, it had been a while since I read it, but anyway, it may not matter for adults as much. I know what I want to say, I just can't SAY it, LOL!
According to the New England Journal of Medicine dust is good for children! I guess the contact with some germs inhances the immune system against some allergic conditions, much as vaccines protect against disease.

It's not "virii" it's "viruses." We think it should be "virii," I used to think it was "virii," but apparently the Romans never thought in terms of more than one virus, so they never had a word for "virus" in the plural. Therefore, we pluralize it according to our own rules of language.

I like the word virii. I first heard it in a 7am micro class, and thought it was one of theose underappreciated words that should be put into use. If people can loose their minds, I can spread virii. You have the right to an informed opinion -Harlan Ellison

Years ago, in college, I asked my Shakespeare prof if she had any more "syllabusses." Still cringe thinking about it.
"Virii" sounds a heck of a lot better than "syllabusses."

Sylabuses?? I don't think so, I've never heard of such a thing, except that one time when, with horror, I heard it coming out of my own mouth. What do you think?
