Interesting program on the History chanel talking about the Skull and Bones secret society and this group, the Bilderbergs, which is even more in charge and secret.

Has anyone here ever heard of these secret societies before?

The Bushes are members of the Skull and Bones.

Clinton ,Bush,Tony Blair have all attended meetings of the Bilderberg group. Then they win election to high office. Doesn't this secret society running the world bother anyone? It bothers me.

Guess no one cares but me.

I've never heard of such a thing. Have you rawbunzel? It sounds like another one of those Illuminati things. I'll have to read it tomorrow, but in the meantime, what did this picture relate to? Maybe that's one of the secret members.

Why Krafty, I believe that might be C Wright Mills' himself [whoever he is..I didn't read it all ...yet...either! ]

I've heard of the Skull and Bones society before and yes it is rather Illuminati like. The TV program says that in ten years the whole world will be living under a Nazi-like rule. Something to ponder.

Peeeuw! Whiskey breath.

I had heard of them a few years ago. Corporate bigwigs like Kravis, politicos like Clinton, Diane Feinstein, Kissinger, journalists like Thomas Friedman and Bill Moyers. Think Round Table for the rich and powerful and influential. Are policies discussed there? Probably. Are they setting policies? Info not sufficient. It does bring up some questions though.

As to the photo, I think it looks like Drew Carey in a time warp.

Oooooo, good stuff!
Of course, this secrecy also guarantees that the vast majority of the world's citizenry is kept completely in the dark regarding Bilderberg deliberations, even though the consensus of the Group may affect national and international government and commerce.
I thought it looked like Drew too! GMTA.

What bothers me about this group is that after people go to one of their secret meetings they become Presidents and the like. Clinton,Tony Blair even Bush. Shortly after attending a meeting they were elected [?] to lead a country. That disturbs me. If all this is set up..all our lives and all the world politics... that to me is disturbing. I do not like to be maniptulated in such a slimey way by the elite and the rich.

But is it true or just a conspiracy theory? How on earth would you know?

Snowy? Are you sure Bill Moyers? He does talk about this stuff to some degree and he isn't supposed to if he attends meetings.Hm.

Rawbunzel, your link said he went. If he did, he can talk about the group in general, but not what goes on at the meetings at all, as I understood from those links. The meetings themselves are totally secret. All these people are supposedly going as private citizens.[1]

As to who is getting elected after going to those meetings, it seems something like the global version of the old Chicago political machine. Those who hold power, money and those who shape opinion run the show, and decide who gets the prize of office, perhaps.[2]

[1] Why don't they invite private citizens?

[2]As a private citizen, I would like to register my disgust with their choice for our choices.

Good to see you KatyD.

Well ,Snowy, how did I miss his name? Sheesh..post a link and miss an important bit myself! LOL!
I agree totally with your point 1 and 2. Disgust is the word.Maybe they should try letting the system work the way it was meant to and see what happens? NAW, then they wouldn't get into office! We might actually choose someone with integrity and smarts.

Guess I'll have to read it better this time around. In my own defense there IS a lot in that link to read.

crawling away ......in shame

Given what is done in plain sight, they hardly need "secret societies" ...

Here's a simple example of how twist-tied our government and corporate interests are and have been for decades:

In 1954, the CIA was heavily involved in overthrowing the democratically elected Guatemalan President, Jacob Arbenz, in a military coup. Arbenz had threatened to nationalize the Rockefeller-owned United Fruit Company. Arbenz was replaced with a series of right-wing dictators whose bloodthirsty policies killed over 100,000 Guatemalans in the next 40 years.
Following the coup, Walter Bedell Smith, then head of the CIA, became a United Fruit director and Allen Dulles, who had been president of United Fruit, replaced Smith at the CIA.

Isn't that special?

And, of course, Nelson Rockefeller went on to be named Gerald Ford's vice president in 1974. Then, (one assumes just for laughs of the nudge-nudge, wink-wink variety) Ford appointed Rockefeller chairman of the president's commission on the Central Intelligence Agency.
It's truly one heck of a web, that "club"...
