I have never seen a President on TV as often as I see Bush.I am sick of seeing his face and hearing his voice. I recall when people used to complain about Clinton giving too many speeches...well this guy talks ALL the time. This time it is about the dock lock out and it is important for him to step in but does it really require a speech?

Why doesn't he ever have news conferences where there are Q and A sessions? I'd be more intersted in those.

I don't listen to him anymore, except for brief videoclips which I can't avoid. I began abstaining a few months ago and I'm pretty sure that I haven't missed anything since even obvious repetitions are covered ad infinitum in the media and usually improved through the translations.

Antiquary, I think you've stumbled on the reason they put him out there so often! It is to make us so sick of him that we won't listen to him and then when he does say something important...yet controversial..then there won't be anyone listening to complain!

Another Republican plot!!! LOLOLOL!!

It's working!!!!

That brings to mind an old proverb that one becomes most like what he chooses to look at most in the world. Though it's not scientific the correlation is frightening enough to cause some consideration of the consequences.

I don't watch very much TV, so I usually miss him. I did look for the speech last night, and it wasn't on CBS, NBC, or ABC. That seemed odd.

He might do well on Nickolodeon or the Cartoon Channel.

Helen, good to see you. I've been hoping they catch the shooter down your way soon.

Now I'll need to bake something...

Don't forget that the new political correctness requires half-baking.

Remote controls can now be officially designated as a necessity.

Remote controls have always been a necessity! My husband has one and I have one for when he falls asleep with the remote in his hand and leaves me on some horrid chanel.Funny how he always wakes up as soon as I change it to put me on yet another awful chanel just as he dozes off again.....ARGH!

Can I be half baked but bake the rolls completely?Nothing worse than half baked bread. If I'm forced I will comply but ~ just when do the half baked police show up? After the baking or during?

Dang it Snowy! You keep posting the same thime as I do!

Nothing in the world smells as good as a bun in the oven!

My son is moving away this week-end so I promised to make some for him before he goes. A little reminder of why he needs to come home for a visit! We mothers are very ingenious when necessary.

Well if it's not a purely political exercise, I guess the complete baking would be acceptable. National unity can only go so far.

This weekend? Oh, that house will seem so quiet for a while. And you don't have to half bake, because you don't have to be politically correct.

Yet.

I like the idea of 2 remotes, but since the one is always lost, and the dog loves to chew it, I don't know what would happen with 2. My husband needs a clapper remote.

Snowy, the son hasn't lived at home for several years. He is in town though and visits fairly often.....when he needs to use our tools or gets hungry! I will really miss him. He is moving to Eugene, Oregon so will be close to Borillar!!! I think he will get bored and want to move to a larger city. We'll see. He is talking about ending up in California one day. Makes a mother sad.

BUT I did just get that new son-in-law and he is pretty funny ....and useful too! Both he and my daughter are journeymen electricians. My house needs rewiring.

Antiquary, thank you! I believe I'll just stay half baked but bake the bread completely.

Snowy, the remotes do disappear but I have found several that are compatable with our TV at estate sales so I always have a back up!

Although you 3 were WAYYYY too young, I remember seeing JFK on TV all the time and loved every minute of it. Clinton reminds me a bit of him... those were the days.

Nixon was more fun on TV. (At least what we used to do to the screen)

2 electricians in the family! That's a good gain.

Here I always thought you were a sweet youngthing, Krafty...now...well,you've aged yourself! I was too young to remember much about JFK except where I was when he was killed and the funeral and all that. I barely remember the before things. My parents had the news on too I was just too busy coloring and reading I guess.

Snowy! You did it again!

2 electricians is good but why couldn't she have married a plumber!!!

What did you do to Nixon on the screen?

Think plumber's butt. That's why.

As to the posting synchronicity, it's the beanies.

All sorts of things. That poor TV.

I also notice Bush isn't making many Bushisms anymore. What a drag. That used to be the best part. He'd be fun to lip-sinc to. Have you ever done that? Tape him talking, but with no sound... then add your own sound. It's like making your own b-movie.

Yes rawbunzel, I'm starting to fossilize. I'm 47 now but I started to notice the decline a couple of years ago when someone on eBay listed an item as an antique. It was made in the 70's.

You're only 47!!! I'll be 57 in a few more months. That's almost an entire decade. I'm surprised that you can remember JFK that well. Watching Nixon never really bothered me that much, but unlike Bush I think he only wanted to be a president a little too much. Today his aspirations would seem almost provincial.

Krafty, I can't believe I'm younger! I thought I was older (at least in years).

Yes, Nixon would be a mere wanker now. His aspirations for domination were national. I never thought I would look back at Nixon and think it could be worse. Economy tanked, impending war, religious requirements for pending political appointments, and the beat goes on.

Antiquary, when is your birthday?

Well....I just recently turned 51 so I must have been one naive little girl! I was twelve when JFK was killed so I doubt I was coloring but I am sure I would have been immersed in some book. I read all the time.I did still play with my Barbie.

Snowy, you must be the youngest one here.Yet you seem so reasonable and intelligent. Not to mention wordly.LOLOLOL It's the beanie isn't it?
plumbers butt just might have been a turn off....you do have a point but she could have sacrificed herself. I NEED plumbing done too darn it!

Actually, I WAS naive. I voted for Nixon only a few short years later. He was the first president I was able to vote for. They should have kept the voting age 21. They had just lowered it to 19 and I was ready!

Maybe your son can bring a plumber into the family.

You voted for Nixon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOTFLOL!

My first vote was for Carter. Then, I voted absentee, and then I couldn't vote in national elections because I was a Territory resident. That is a real bummer.

I know there is someone younger than me here.

I flunked Social Studies because of Nixon. My teacher was a rabid Nixon supporter, and I wrote a short paper about the AT&T thing that was critical of Nixon. I wrote a critical piece about Reagan in college and got an A. Who knows?

I'll still look at your posts the same. <snicker> Everyone is entitled to a few <ack> ummmm, <cackle> growing pains. (Yesthat's a good word for it)

I bet some of the lurkers are younger. I miss JamesO.
