The majority of Americans must think the President is doing just fine.

For only the fourth time since Lincoln, a President gained control of the House and Senate.

The American People knew this vote would give Bush control.

Bush still enjoys one of the longest positive ratings.

Not rhetoric, just the facts.

Like I just said in your other thread, Bear - the American people are about to get the kind of governement that they want: 19% will cry about it, 21% will cheer about it, the other 60% will be glad to not be bothered by it anymore for a while. It won't change by the time that Bush gets re-elected, either. I've also been saying that. When the 21% who voted in the Republicans realize just what they've done, it'll be way, way too late! The German people did not realize the true extent of their stupidity until after the war. So shall it be with you who support the Republicans now.

I disagree with that statement. Reason being, I have more faith in our system that you appear to have.

On Bush being re-elected. He got what he wanted...the senate and the house. BUT now he's going to have to prove himself. He can no longer use the excuse that he can't get this or that passed BECAUSE of the senate. His butt is on the line now. If he doesn't come through, he won't be re-elected. If he does make changes in the next two years that the people approve of, he will be re-elected for that reason.

Bush isn't winning approval because of his record. He is winning approval because of the 9/11 attack. A cursory look at the economy shows there's something rotten in the state of Washington. Bush managed to turn this election into a referendum on his Iraq policy, rather than the economy.

I fully expect Bush will engineer the war with Iraq in such a way that the American people are too scared (or, too patriotic) to vote him out next election.

Iraq needs a good ass-kicking, but IMO Bush is not the leader to do it.

The other day I flew on Democrat Airways Flight 1992.  It was a pleasant flight, good food, not a hitch.  During the flight, a woman seated next to me told me how the Captain, a married man with kids, was sleeping around with flight attendants and any other woman he could get his paws on.  Moments later, the plane touched down so softly, I had to look out the window to tell we had
landed.

As I walked towards the terminal, Republican Airlines Flight 2002 came roaring in at a near 90 degree angle, slammed into the runway, and broke into pieces, creating a huge fireball.  What stunned me was the look on the faces of the passengers moments before the crash.  They were all smiling.

The NTSB determined that neither the crash nor the smiling faces were unusual.  Turns out the only requirement to be a pilot for Republican Airlines is that you bring "dignity and integrity" to the airlines -- minus any "youthful indiscretions".  Actually knowing how to fly a plane is optional.

Scrabblegod - Thank you SO much. I appreciate you posting that again.

Twinsoft - And who do you see in the democratic party who wants to [as you say] kick their a$$?

I agree that Bush has a lot of support for his stance on fighting terrorism. I also believe the democrats couldn't make up their minds which way they wanted to go with that. But if they as a party really felt that way, then what does that say about their leadership that they weren't able to take a stand against him. They voted for him to have control of the situation. They had a choice.

Actually, it is a matter of Faith, Linda. While every leader easily fits the description for the Anti-Christ, GW Bush, Jr. strongly fits it to a tee! The Anti-Christ is supposed to reign for six years and then dissappear. That means he'll get re-elected.

>I also believe the democrats couldn't make up their minds which way they wanted to go with that. -Linda-

The Democrats lost because they were totally pathetic. The only reason that any of them got another term was because too many mainstream voters were terrified of the Republicans, IMO.

The Democrats lost because of not having any sense of direction, split leadership, dissention within the ranks of the political leadership, and they made every effort that they could to alieante their supporters. For instance, in the last few days before the elction, they began to pound on those "Gun Control" wardrums again. However many votes they picked up for doing that, evidently they lost ten times as many supporters for that. Instead of pointing a finger at the Rpiblicans and telling it like it is and then going after them, they couldn't even agree on what subjects to talk to voters about. Had they gone ahead and stuck to core issues, like the United States Constitution and Civil Rights and rolling back the horrors that the Republican corruption has laid on us all, they would have seen this nation rally behind them. But, once again, they decided at the last minute to pick a fight with the United States Constitution and they lost. What a surprise.

And if Gephart thinks that he's going to run for President in 2004 - forget it! I'll never forget seeing him schmoozing it up with Bush at the White House. Never.

Personally, I think that the Democratic party is finished.

Don't bury the Democratic Party too quick. A lot can happen in 2 years and now the Republicans have no cover for anything that goes wrong.

Bah! Even if all the seats held by Democrats and Independants were suddenly and magically filled with Republicans, the GOP would still blame everything on the Democrats. Remember them trying to tell us about, "the failed Clinton economic policies" and how many people actually questioned what they experieced for eight years? C'mon. THe Democrats have so seriously lost their way and are so seperated from what it means to be a Democrat and are so seperated from their supporters that they may as well dissolve the stupid party.
