Remember when that was discovered years ago? Remember who they blamed for doing it and called him a TRAITOR without any proof?
"WASHINGTON -- The U.S. State Department is accusing two leading aerospace companies of illegally providing rocket technology to China that could be used for intercontinental missiles."
"In a letter filed Dec. 26, the State Department says the companies committed 123 violations of the Arms Control Export Act and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations."
"They also could face fines of $500,000 a charge, though it isn't clear if each violation would constitute a separate charge."
Hey! If this had been a single individual or a small group of people engaged in selling illegal tech secrets to China, wouldn't they be held in Maximum Security right now pending trial for treason? So, tell me, why is it a different thing if it is done by a large corporation? There were people in the corporation who willingly and probably knowingly (it's their job to know the laws, right?) sold the vital national strategic info to the Chinese illegally and for a profit. There's no difference to my mind.
Of course, with Bush sucking-face with these large corporations, it'll be until Hell freezes over that we'll see a single fine levied against the corps for espionage.

The problem here is the ability of the political mind to ignore physical reality.
Just as Hollywood wants digital data to be uncopyable based on the overriding fact they want it - so also the government wants rocket science to be shared and safe and economical when the payload on the top is a communications satellite and the rocket to be crap when it has a warhead on top - but be made by the same people. They probably also want commercial auto technology to be shared in such a way as to be unusable for military vehicles and electronics technology that can be used for TV and microwaves but not for military radios and radar. There should be computer tech. shared info for x-box type gaming and weather prediction but not for nuclear weapon simulation and target processing.
It's simply impossible.
What needs (too late - needed) to be asked is if we can't trust these scum sucking creeps with the information because the'd like to kill us in our sleep what the hell are we doing cozzying up to them to save a few bucks on labor costs instead of doing it ourselves. It's like hiring a know serial killer to replace your nanny because of greed for the $20 bucks a week he bid cheaper.

Well, how come the legal experts here can't explain why corporate executives are not held for treason in a case like this and put behind bars for life with the Jerry Pollards and the rest?
