I heard someone say the other day that World WarIII started on 9/11/2001. I think they were right.

I received this e-mail this morning. One of those chain emails that your asked to pass on. I usually don't but did with this one.

It pretty much sums up my feelings.

DO NOT FORGET

I sat in a movie theater watching "Schindler's List," asked myself, "Why
didn't the Jews fight back?"

Now I know why.

I sat in a movie theater, watching "Pearl Harbor" and asked myself, "Why
weren't we prepared?"

Now I know why.

Civilized people cannot fathom, much less predict, the actions of evil
people.

On September 11, dozens of capable airplane passengers allowed themselves to
be overpowered by a handful of poorly armed terrorists because they did not
comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors.

On September 11, thousands of innocent people were murdered because too many
Americans naively reject the reality that some nations are dedicated to the
dominance of others. Many political pundits, pacifists and media personnel
want us to forget the carnage. They say we must focus on the bravery of the
rescuers and ignore the cowardice of the killers. They implore us to
understand the motivation of the perpetrators. Major television stations
have announced they will assist the healing process by not replaying
devastating footage of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers.

I will not be manipulated.

I will not pretend to understand.

I will not forget.

I will not forget the liberal media who abused freedom of the press to kick
our country when it was vulnerable and hurting.

I will not forget that CBS anchor Dan Rather preceded President Bush's
address to the nation with the snide remark, "No matter how you feel about
him, he is still our president."

I will not forget that ABC TV anchor Peter Jennings questioned President
Bush's motives for not returning immediately to Washington, DC and
commented, "We're all pretty skeptical and cynical about Washington."

And I will not forget that ABC's Mark Halperin warned if reporters weren't
informed of every little detail of this war, they aren't "likely -- nor
should they be expected -- to show deference."

I will not isolate myself from my fellow Americans by pretending an attack
on the USS Cole in Yemen was not an attack on the United States of America.

I will not forget the Clinton administration equipped Islamic terrorists and
their supporters with the world's most sophisticated telecommunications
equipment and encryption technology, thereby compromising America's ability
to trace terrorist radio, cell phone, land lines, faxes and modem
communications.

I will not be appeased with pointless, quick retaliatory strikes like those
perfected by the previous administration.

I will not be comforted by "feel-good, do nothing" regulations like the
silly "Have your bags been under your control?" question at the airport.

I will not be influenced by so called,"antiwar demonstrators" who exploit
the right of expression to chant anti-American obscenities.

I will not forget the moral victory handed the North Vietnamese by American
war protesters who reviled and spat upon the returning soldiers, airmen,
sailors and Marines.

I will not be softened by the wishful thinking of pacifists who chose
reassurance over reality.

I will embrace the wise words of Prime Minister Tony Blair who told Labor
Party conference, "They have no moral inhibition on the slaughter of the
innocent. If they could have murdered not 7,000 but 70,000, does anyone
doubt they would have done so and rejoiced in it?

There is no compromise possible with such people, no meeting of minds, no
point of understanding with such terror. Just a choice: defeat it or be
defeated by it. And defeat it we must!"

I will force myself to:

-hear the weeping
-feel the helplessness
-imagine the terror
-sense the panic
-smell the burning flesh
- experience the loss
- remember the hatred.

I sat in a movie theater, watching "Private Ryan" and asked myself, "Where
did they find the courage?"

Now I know.

We have no choice. Living without liberty is not living.

Ed Evans, MGySgt., USMC (Ret.)
Not as lean, Not as mean, But still a Marine.

>I sat in a movie theater watching "Schindler's List," asked myself, "Why didn't the Jews fight back?"

>Now I know why.

Why? Because they believed in their government to do the right thing for them always. They believed that Hitler's evil would pass before it went too far.

Today, we have Bush and his Homeland Security. Homeland? What is this "Homeland" business? This is America - not Germany! This is not "The Homeland" like Bush , Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Ashcroft keep talking about. That's Germany! Everyone refers to here as AMERICA! What's wrong with these people do you think and will it too pass over before it goes too far?

>I sat in a movie theater, watching "Pearl Harbor" and asked myself, "Why weren't we prepared?"

>Now I know why.

Really? I wish I had those links to those threads where we've all pooled that knowledge that Roosevelt allowed Pearl Harbor to happen. That's why the accusation about Bush is so relevant today.

>Civilized people cannot fathom, much less predict, the actions of evil people.

Sure they can. Most people understand desperation. It comes from Despair and we've all been there. In a world of endless poverty and injustice, the opportunity to make one's life meaningful is a real temptation to some folks, even though it cost them their lives to do so.

Contrast that with the evil here at home, in the Bush Administration and the Republicans in Congress. Are they predictable? Absolutely! All you have to do is to find anything good, kind, or decent and you'll find Republicans and Bush corrupting it, perverting it's meaning, or outright desecrating and destroying it. Everything fine and decent is a target for them. It's not hard to predict what evil will do -- ESPECIALLY if you have a civilized mind!

I've had that website bookmarked since a little after 9/11.

On the anniversary of 9/11 they had even more cr*p in there...

From the very beginning, they have accused the U.S. and Israel for bringing about the tragedy of 9/11.

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/shootdown.html

And I've had the 'lets Roll' website bookmarked also. That was taken down sometime in 2002. go figure. Must make 'what REALLY happened' true then

Not

Maybe we could just eliminate the right to free speech and press.

Maybe we should all take some Government aproved PROZAC and act as sheep...

Free speech is what makes our country great. I for one support the right to protest. Who would be running this country without the right to protest?

Nearthesea,

Until 9/11 is investigated, my advice to you is not to bookmark what you consider "crap".

I can't imagine any reason for bookmarking "crap". Can you?

Thanks Katy!

I didn't know that one existed.
And liked where they showed the inaccuracies in the whatreallyhappened.com site.

I don't need to explain why I bookmark what I do, but for you Helenjw, I found whatreallyhappened.com to NOT be credible IMO from the start, and would refer back to it every once in awhile, to see what crap this site had to say, and compare it to what others would say elsewhere.

I find it not to be credible, as I do not believe 'the Jews conspired the 9/11 tragedy' as they so often refer to that in that website.

Did fair.org give it its thumbs up?

Still a free country, to bookmark or not bookmark whatever I would like, thank you

If I found any value in what you consider credible, I would ask you why you find my link incredible. But, I do not.

So, nevermind. Go back to bookmarking crap and taking potshots at my posts.

"Spartacus and his band wanted nothing to do with the Roman empire and had planned from the start merely to loot enough money from their former owners in the Italian countryside to hire a mercenary fleet in which to sail to freedom. "

Umm . . . I hate to be a party-pooper on that Freeper report you are talking about, but as a history buff, I gotta interject this here.

The army that Spartacus had marched from Mt. Vesuvius and fought there way all the way up to the feet of the alps. They met for the first time, a Veteran Roman Legion under the command of a famous general (whose name escapes me at the moment). This Roman Legion was the only thing keeping the slave army from crossing over the Alps to both home and freedom. And in a highly recorded historical battle, Spartacus's slave army of gladiators smashed the Roman Legion and Spartacus killed the Roman General in command of it.

At this point, an incredible turn of events NOT SHOWN IN THE MOVIE took place. After the defeat of the Roman Legion guarding that pass through the Alps, there was absolutely nothing to stand in the way of Freedom and Home. Spartacus wanted to get away from Rome, but his army did not! No! Recall that as bad as the Roman Empire was, it was also the Shining Light of Civilization and the slaves who had tasted or grew up with civilization could only look forward to a primitive barbarian existence in abject and total poverty. Instead, of going home, they decided to turn the army around and to invade Italy.

Long story short, they begged Spartacus to lead them and in what was a sad turn of events, he consented to lead them in conquest. And although he avoided Rome because of the city's high walls and fortifications, his army ravaged the countryside as they marched all the way down to the tip of the toe of the Italian boot. His army demolished every army sent against it and now, a winter encampment at a very bad place where their backs were to the water and poor supplies.

They had contracted the pirates all right to take them across to Sicily, not to escape to freedom, but to conquer it and to use it as a base to continue to harass Rome. When the pirate fleet was bought off, as in the movie, they turned northward and marched into movie fame.

That was just for the record. As usual, Freepers are too stupid to actually pick up a book and read the real history before they go about making quotes, which afterwards, makes them a laughingstock.

-Just thought you should all know-

EXPLANATION: Quote from the top of the page from your link http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/ARTICLE5/

"Note: This article first appeared as a post written by myself at Free Republic. I was surprised to learn that it was copied from Free Republic and re-posted at dozens of sites around the world. So, it seems only fitting that the article (with some updating) re-appear here at my own web site. "

And in case you weren't aware of it, Helen, "Freeper" refers to Free Republic.
