I said Off Topic in this title, because the majority of threads are or can be pretty controversial; political or otherwise, and I don't think this is (at least I don't think so! And it isn't through ebay, so I put the ? here not in ebay outlook)
We bought a car (OK my husband did off the internet NOT ebay) and its in LA, and here's the deal... the seller down there is looking into shipping it up here to WA for a 'good' price. If it isn't, we'll be flying down there and driving back..... ugh
(BTW it wasn't my idea at all! )
Anyone know an approx cost of shipping about 1300 miles, from S. CA to Seattle area?
Our car was totalled by a kid, while it was parked at a curb (legally) no one was hurt.
I just got thinking about the huge gas prices, and how this is going to affect those trucks big time on shipping cars. But then, this is no gas saver car either, driving it up here will be a lot! (the 'non' economy car WAS not my idea either! )
Any ideas on a guesstimation?
thanks!

I've had my car shipped across country twice here in Canada. The first time it was by train and the second time (8 months ago) I was told it would be by train but it actually was shipped by truck.
The last shipping cost (for a distance of about 800 miles) was approx. US$300 for my brand new 2002 Acura. That included free pick up at my old residence in one city and delivery to my new residence in the other city.
Look in your yellow pages. You should find companies that specialize in shipping cars and they should be able to give you an estimate on the phone.

Thanks gravid and stockticker
(I just think it was crazy to buy a car this way, when the ads and the auto dealers are chock full of vehicles ready to drive off the lot, and not more than 10 or so miles from our house! )

NTS - United Moving Co. moved us here almost 4 years ago and they were going to charge us $800.00 to move our car just under 2000 miles. You might give a couple of house movers a call and check their prices, and not only get bids from the companies that only move cars. Good luck. Hey...you'll enjoy the drier climate.
