In celebrating the killing of 4 U.S. servicement today when an Iraqi noncom officer posed as a taxi driver and blew up himself and the Americans, an Iraqi military spokesman promised more such attacks, both in Iraq and in the United States.
Saddam gave the bomber 2 medals posthumously.
Remember, Saddam has been paying the families of Palestinian suicide bombers for over a year.
Is there still anybody out there that hasn't figured out that Saddam is a terrorist who wants to kill Americans here on our own soil?

I think that was a really low blow. I support our troops and don't support this war, but neither do I support Hussein and his evil deeds. I doubt Helen supports him either. I don't understand why it is okay for some of you to have an opinion in support of the war, but when those of us who object to the war voice ours, we are condemned for it. Last I checked this was America and we are entitled to voice our opinions without fear of retribution or childish name calling.

Hussein is an evil man and so are his sons. They need to be stopped; their attrocities must not be allowed to continue, but I think what some of us are trying to say is that there had to be a better way to rid the world of this madman. Respect that opinion and maybe we'll show some respect for yours.

Yea Stusi, it's not like we wasted 12 years and thousands of innocent people. trying that already. All we really needed to do was send a registered letter asking him very nicley to please stop killing his own people and acting as a terroist. Maybe we could have offered a nice clubmed membership or a nice time share in the rockies.

Cheryl- I suggest you go back and carefully read the question I responded to. You are apparently among those who automatically refer to the first amendment whenever someone does not like attacks on the administration's position on Iraq. I am not a Bush advocate(I am a Democrat) but I vehemently object to those who can't keep their mouths shut once the war has started. I happen to agree with this war, but when I was opposed to the Viet Nam war I kept my mouth shut out of respect for our troops. Helen is among several here who can't seem to do that nor directly respond to facts or questions about preventing terrorism. Ferncrestmotel's question was in that regard.

I support this war now because it's already in full swing. I support our troops and am proud of the job they are so bravely doing. I have sat back and listened to both sides and respect their opinions. Going out and protesting is not my style and if someone asks me my position, I will tell them what it is. No, I don't go around screaming about 1st Amendment rights to anyone about anything. What I am saying is yes, there are some on this board that have strong opinions and will argue those opinions to the death and they have every right to do that without fear. That's not shouting 1st Amendment rights, that shouting human rights. The very rights our troops are fighting now to give the people of Iraq. There are soldiers fighting in Iraq whose parents oppose the war and are vocal about it. If those soldiers can respect their parents for their views, I don't see why the rest of us cannot. I respect your opinion about my comments and take no offense in them.

Terrorism will always be around. It's a sad fact that it is a fight that will never end. There will always be someone else to take Hussein or bin Ladden's place. It's been that way for centuries; history books are chock full of it. Terrorism on our own soil is new to us (Pearl Harbor aside). What of those people around the world that live with it on a daily basis and don't have the capacity or resources to fight it as we do? I don't think that anyone has any easy answers. The only way to stop it is to stop the hate. Fat chance of that ever happening.

Glad to hear there is another Democrat on board! A local congressman here (a Democrat) has decided to put his hat in the ring for president. I'm going to be working on his campaign. Should be interesting.

Your comment was uncalled for.....
But very funny... Thanks.

tomyou,
The Club med would have done it. I can't believe how bad our leaders missed this one in their diplomacy.

I vehemently object to those who can't keep their mouths shut once the war has started.

Oh great, now you gave them a reason to make the war go on longer, to keep their oppostition silenced.

Stalin and Lenin would be proud....

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both boldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."

I love the Caesar quote. History does repeat itself! There are some politicians that would do well to remember that.

Everyone here who is against the war seems to think there should have been a better way to stop Saddam. I wonder if these people have ever thought that President Bush and his advisors have considered that war should be the last resort to this situation. I'm sure they knew there would be American Soliders that would die. It was a very tough choice that had to be made.

If Saddam will attack the people of Iraq, then he demonstrates that he cares about nobody. His main goal is keeping himself in power, without regard to what it costs. His military is the 4th largest in the world, and the most evil. Yesterday, news reports indicate that an Iraqi woman waved to American Soliders to show her support. When these same Soliders returned using that same road, they found this woman HANGING FROM A LAMP POST.

So, here is the question. What is the answer for this situation. Please don't answer more talks, this failed. As did a timeline and every other choice given. Sometimes force has to be used. This is one of those times.

spelling edit.

Yes, talks have failed, as in another war we fought

There are a thousand avenues, other than war, at our disposal...

Name five hundred.

Royal petition, delegates to court, judicial redress, economic boycott,bribery...

That's five, keep going...

... time, royal succession,regicide, bribery...

You said bribery twice...

We’ve talked, and talked, and did all those. They didn’t work, for 13 years, they have not worked. War is our last resort

Take a guess which war?
