I use Windows NT here at work. Suddenly, my mouse will only work side to side and not up and down. No matter which mouse I am using or how many times I shut down and restart (both shutting down completely, sitting for an hour and restarting). I'm at my wit's end here. Anyone else experience this or know what the problem might be? I've defragged and such - still no up and down movement. Conflict maybe? Although it's not indicated anywhere.
Edited to mention that the mouse works fine until Windows loads!

I tried using a Mac - once. I started out on when DOS was the boss (back in 1988). Anyway, it's suddenly working. I decided to do a chkdsk on the hard drive. Don't know if that did it or if I have elves running around inside my 'puter. I work for a very poor non-profit - we're lucky we have computers that work at all.

Try cleaning your mouse pad or relace it. You might also remove the ball from the underside of the mouse & clean it with a alchol wipe.
If none of the above work, try installing a new mouse.
