They protest against genetically engineered food and then they go home (to their VW buses) and intoxicate themselves with marijuana, LSD and toxic mushrooms. They're just hippie wannabee's.

They were protesting the Bush administration's effort to market the corporate model of food and farming on behalf of big business which will profit at the expense of small farmers, farm workers, public health and the environment. In other words, they are protesting the privatization of food.

Do you have a problem with that. If so, what is it???

"...then they go home (to their VW buses) and intoxicate themselves with marijuana, LSD and toxic mushrooms."

Why do you right wingers always resort to making stuff up to get your point across? One person was arrested for being under the influence of drugs, so the LSD & toxic mushrooms might relate more to you than them.

LOL! Maybe he would like them better if they were driving gas guzzlers and drinking scotch?

This effort to privatize food is being sold with the tale that the world is hungry for bio-engineered food. The truth is that big corporations are hungry -- for profit.

Hoards of weirdos descend upon Sacramento

Had no idea what this thread would be. It flashed on me at a glance maybe they were just visiting relatives.

How could they tell the difference between those living there & those visiting?

Good one bear1949,
You're starting to sound like a leftie.

I think the way to tell the difference between 'them' and 'us' is that they 'look' different, although some were apparently naked, their skin must have been 'different'.

"On Monday, mostly peaceful protests featured demonstrators dressed as giant ears of corn, butterflies and tomatoes -- and some not dressed at all -- mingling with anarchists, organic farmers and chefs."

Fortunately
"law enforcement -- many dressed in riot gear -- outnumbering people on the streets."

Lucky, coz' I know of 2 organic farmers and one is a very good boxer.
THAT'S 50%!!! WOW

I mean, check out this chef, not intimidated in the slightest, scantily clad jezebel and flagrantly attempting to indoctrinate an officer of the law.

What's wrong with GE food, I mean after all our God has given us, surely we could resiprocate by helping God do her job.

The truth is that big corporations are hungry -- for profit.

Do you live in a trailer? on the street?

Nothing is wrong with PROFIT! Why do you think people invest their money.

Do you invest? If you invest 401K funds, I am betting even some of your own money is going to these "big" coporations.

First the "lefties" complain about all the starving people and when a way is found to feed them, they now "bit*ch" about that too... just goes to show nothing will make a lefty happy...even when something good happens...

AIN'T LIFE GRAND...

Twelvepole,

Big business, promoting engineered food is interested in profit at the expense of poor people all over the world - at the expense of their health, livelyhood and the environment. The propanganda that you have swallowed - that these corporations have an altruistic interest in feeding the hungry is hogwash.

"Do you live in a trailer? on the street?

Someday, I may be able to buy a trailer. In the meantime, a tent is better than a box.

June 20-25:

Peace, Global Justice and Democracy Movements Unite in Sacramento

Confront the Corporate Take-Over of Food, Communities and the Future

Protest the Sacramento Corporate Agriculture Ministerial!

This June the Bush administration, USAID, USDA, and the State Department are hosting government ministers from 180 nations and transnational corporate reps in a meeting to pave the way for ‘free trade,’ privatization of water, genetic engineering and factory farming. This ministerial is one of the key stepping stones for the Bush administration and their corporate backers to push through their agenda in the lead up to the next World Trade Organization meeting in Cancun in September. This is why millions of small farmers around the world have called for protests at the Sacramento ministerial to denounce the corporate take over of the global food supply.

Think about it 12.
Do they ‘create’ employment when they can.
OR
‘Rationalise’ when they can. Eg. Reduce staff, pay less, give less benefits, although we keep giving the same and even be expected to give more, or if you like, to make ‘productivity improvements’.

I recently heard, 12, that your largest wine companies charge $1.50 more for a bottle of the same wine with a screw top instead of cork, even though it costs less to make.
Why do you think that might be 12.

Let me tell you: It’s because they can.
The consumer knows it removes possibility of becoming ‘corked’, and they are ‘willing’ to pay more.
Plain and simple, they charge more because they can, and will also pay workers less when they can.

The ‘left’ 12, by and large, are not against ‘profits’, but some of these ‘entities’ are getting out of control, in fact they control you.
How can you and I, the people, possibly compete in ‘eliciting favours’ from our governments with the size of their ‘campaign contributions’ or threats to withdraw.
You know, ‘blackmail’ like you complain about N. Korea.

Why don’t you then tell us then, how much do you think one person should be permitted to own.
$1Mill
$10Mill
$1,000Mill
1/8 of the world
½ the world
9/10 of the world
Balls and All.

Also, here we are ‘lefties’ saying that GE food may be dangerous and not worth the risk, and you with no idea of genetics at all, just as us, are saying ‘nah! It’s cool.’
“Found a way to feed them.”?
You have no idea 12, face it.

We were saying that invading Iraq may be wrong, and Reymond from the ‘Right’ (and you) was saying, ‘they have WOMD, They have Osama, It ain’t the oil, they need liberation’ and what ever else he could pluck out of his a$$.
Now the truth comes out, what does Ray say? “we don’t care, we don’t want or need a reason”
What a liar, no integrity, shameless anti-Semite.

And no!
I have no investments like shares.
I believe that the common man that has shares in big corporations is cannon fodder, with little idea of where the money is going, and can have the ‘plug’ pulled on them at any time.

Now my government wants to privatise our national phone company.
How cool is that: I can now buy something that I already own.

Helen and Austy

I have come to the conclusion that pointing out facts to 12 is a waste of good time and energy. He doesn't want to hear the truth because HIS truth is the only truth in his opinion.

Yes they keep telling us that if we just work hard enough, we can have it all.

They don't stop to ask, 'who will shovel their $hit?'

They don't seem to understand that all people have a soul.
They must be listening to Franklin Graham.
They want to smite us all.

If they think they can keep the exploited masses down for ever, theve got another thing coming.

I've found a bargain for the boys.
