How does one tell if an album is good by looking at it? Not playing it bec I don't have a player.
I bought a bunch of albums. Getting ready to sell one.
Noticeable scratches?
Smudges?
Second question: How to pack albums?

Check that is is relatively flat (not warped) if stored improperly albums tend to warp which distorts the sound reproduction. They should be kept perpendicular to the horizon not stacked like pizza boxes. The quality of the stylus which was used in it's life can also greatly change the tonal quality by widening the grooves. There really is no way you can be sure without listening to it.

Also, look at it holding it at an angle under a bright light. You should see any tiny scratches. If you clean them, don't go in the direction of the grooves. Clean with a soft cloth (I use CD cleaner cloths) from the inside to the outside. The condition of the album cover is also an issue. Some are more valuable than others. Some albums are valuable for their cover alone. Twelve is right, do a lot of research!
