I was just reading about the movie and all the worries it raises.
The article I was linked to off Drudge expressed that people would be wrong to blame either the Romans or the Jews for nailing Christ up.
I am really amused. Who does that leave? Perhaps his own followers or it was just a bizzare accident? Yes a carpendry accident - that was his trade after all. Probably fell on his air powered nailer.
More likely the clergy see themselves and their own history of bloody hands a little too clearly in the story. How many have they seen dead over the years just like the Jewish authorities? Better to proclaim their brother killers innocent in case somebody should call their own accounts to be settled some day.
