OK, for a point of speculation. The year is 2001. Al Gore (gasp) has been elected President and is the White House.

September 11 th comes along, the WTC & the Pentagon have been struck by hijacked airliners.

Who do the demo place the blame on?

Surely they won't place blame on the previous administration, will they?

Do the demo's realistically think they can blame the republicans?

So add your insight to the dilemma.

I'm not sure who they would have blamed, but I'd be willing to bet it would NOT be a country that didn't have anything to do with it

Do you mean the actual attack on Sept. 11th, or the security that lead up to the attack, bear?

Either way, I'd blame Henry Kissinger.

"So add your insight to the dilemma".

Send the Bush administration that message.

Sure they do. They totally ignore the clinton statements that regime change was in order in Iraq. Period.

Heck...they blame the republicans for everything that goes wrong everywhere in the world.
It's just politics as usual.

Al Gore (gasp) has been elected President and is the White House.

Thank the heavens, nature and all.... that didn't happen. He kept changing his mind on all the issues....no one knows what he would have done....the the thought is very scary. [ edited by Linda_K on Sep 1, 2003 07:41 AM ]

The question should be why Republicans refuse to be accountable for their actions. Instead, they are constanly making an effort to shift blame, revealing an inability to act responsibly.

Of course, they would welcome an opportunity to take credit for something. But what on earth can that be???

I blame the ongoing energy policy of this nation. It was very clear in the 1970's during the Saudi lead oil embargo that the Saudis viewed the US as a cash cow and nothing more. I blame the American people for not pursuing a path leading to either independence from imported oil or less dependence on this oil. We have financed the armies that oppose us and continue to do so daily at the pump. As long as we continue to fund the revenue stream to Saudi we will in effect be enabling the continuation of this war we need to deny them access to our dollars. As this war provides economic opportunity to both our enemies and our business community it will continue unabated no matter which party occupies the White House. The rhetoric provided us in our media is designed to foster this system and facilitate this ongoing war indefinitely. You cannot deal with effect without alleviating the underlying cause. You can remove a tumor, it will however return in time.

First of all, the Sept. 11th attack would not have happened. PRESIDENT Gore would not have suspended intelligence surveillance of Al-Queada no matter how much the Taliban would have been offended. He would have said "Screw the Afghanistan Pipeline! These people are up to something and must be stopped!"

So everything else after that is moot.
