WASHINGTON (AP) —
"The top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said Wednesday that none of the Democratic presidential candidates has expressed a coherent foreign policy although it's early in the campaign."
"Sen. Joseph Biden has been critical of the Democratic presidential candidates."
By Terry Ashe, AP
"Sen. Joseph Biden, who once flirted with the idea of seeking the party's nomination, said the candidates have to "demonstrate that they have a foreign policy, a security policy, that is coherent and is grown up, that we can handle the bad things out there in the world."
"If it's only 'I voted to go in (to Iraq)' or 'I thought we should've gone in, but now we shouldn't spend any money there,' that is not a particularly coherent policy. And I think it will maybe work well in the primary, but I don't think it works very well in the general (election)," the Delaware lawmaker told reporters.
"Two senators in the race, John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina, had voted for the resolution authorizing the Iraq war last year, but opposed the $87 billion Iraq-Afghanistan spending package approved by the House and Senate last week."
"Biden said it is early in the campaign and there isn't a forum that would allow the candidates to present a complete foreign policy. He said if he were a candidate, "I would just want to make sure I was being consistent."
"Biden said he wants to help shape Democratic foreign policy, but he said, "what I don't want to do is flyspeck their (the candidates') primary strategy."
"He added: "I mean I'm a guy that didn't make it to Iowa, so how the hell do I know."
I'm just LOVING this. Two democrats who have their eyes open. LOL What the heck does he know???? Obviously more than the candidates who are running.

All you hear about from the majority of the candidates is ANTI-Bush and ANTI-War. If they want to take that position, fine. But what *DO* they stand for?
It takes more to running the country than not being Bush and not being at war.

Thats all I've heard too, is anti Bush, anti war... well with the exception of the Gov of Vermont, who proposes Healthcare for all, because he's done it in his state... now does he realize the entire US is larger and more complicated than the state of VT?

Yes, and on the state of VT and health care issue. They complain that our soldiers aren't getting proper care in a timely fashion now, but then support a health care system like Canada's where the wait is just as long for all it's citizens. hmmmmm

Even if there is a wait for some people, it's better than no medical care at all. Forty million people are without health insurance.

So you support socialized medicine Helen?
I was reading in our paper last week, that drs in Canada are LEAVING... not because of pay, or overcrowding, too many patients, no, they are leaving, because the GOVT has to APPROVE surgerys and such, and they aren't getting the approvals quick enough. And they believe they should decide who needs what care, NOT the gov't. The drs are coming to the US to practice, now go figure.

Smart doctors.

Anyone can be seen at any hospital in the US, and they are. Then many states have county hospitals where those who cannot afford medical care can go to be treated. You always make it sound like our taxes that pay for county hospitals and increased hospital bills we pay because so many can't afford to, are for nothing and that there's no care available for them anywhere. That's simply not true.

Linda, your answer sounds like health insurance is not important to you. Would you feel secure if you were without insurance?
I like Gephardt's health plan. It covers everyone with health care that they can never lose. You may read about it here.

Apparently you can't read yourself miscreant... NTS has pointed out very well that socialized medicine is failing in Canada... and you want that here? LOL

Not only in Canada, but also in France. Approximate 15,000 people died recently from a simple heat wave and their governments medical plan proved to be totally inadequate to handle those who needed medical care.
Do I want MY government in charge of making MY medical decisions for me???? A big NO thank you.

12, please show me one post where I said socialized medicine is a good idea. And you accuse me of not being able to read. ROTFLMAO.
