without the 14 days advance. thats the only way I've done it when I fly, so kinda new to this.
My girls have to get down to TX like, NOW, their stepmother is being taken off life support (God, and there is a thread on Terri Shiavo that we were JUST discussing) but this one is different, she is young, I think she is early 30's, she went into cardiac arrest during a surgery, and it took them almost a half hour or longer (I'm only getting this from one of my daughters, so I don't know for sure) so there was no oxyegen to the brain for a long time, so she is brain dead... god. I don't even know her, and have not seen their father in years and years. But he's been calling them non stop today, so they have to go.
I've looked up the different airfares, been to expedia and hotwire. My oldest is paying for both of them roundtrip, so trying to find the most inexpensive way...
Any other places to check, their father wants them now, but my oldest is being more 'practical' and telling him Monday... man... (and I don't want to get in the middle of this, but I AM) and so I want to help them find a QUICK way and an inexpensive as they can way to get down there. Any ideas???
Thanks

Call the airlines directly they have various programs in place for bereavement or medical emergency. Southwest is usually pretty good about these situations and have the most routes in and out of Texas.
Sorry to hear the news.

Try HotWire.com. [online] Friends have found great deals for last minute flights from here to CA.
Dave's right...most airlines offer those great discounts when a family member is near death or has passed away. Our sons saved right around $350. and $400. on each of their round trip tickets from what the usual 7-14 day bookings run.

Thanks you guys
Seems they can leave tommorow for $773 includes taxes and fees ... that was through lowestfares, that took you to priceline.com
(thats without the bereavement)
Can't really use the bereavement... since she is still on life support
my youngest is taking this really really hard.
My older daughter is being so , not sure, mature? and very practical. And its her bday on the 29th and they are making the reservations to come back the 31.
its been an awful day for these 2.

Near, try the airlines directly. I know Continental and US Air have these weekend special deals. Fly out on a fri or sat and usually they are pretty inexpensive. 100-200, RT. If they dont want to use the return required Mon, or tues, just book em back on a weekender whatever week you are scheduling them to come back.
Also if you talk to somebody at the airlines they can give you a price for medical emergency, not necessarily bereavment, but still better than full airfare.
