Wow! Lightning is filling the sky, and thunder is rumbling so loud that the vibrations can be felt through the chair I'm sitting on! This has been going on for an hour or so. The heavens just opened up and it is pouring now. My lights are flickering and I won't be surprised if the power goes out. I have the TV on & the news is warning people to stay inside. Unfortunately, though, my dinner hour is almost over & I have to drive back to work.

“I have the TV on & the news is warning people to stay inside”??????????????????
Ring your boss and ask to be excused from work.
If they 'unreasonably' demand you go in, in spite of official warnings, then perhaps they will be held liable if you are struck.

It rained an inch here today, first time in 2 months. A nice, slow, straight down winter rain. I don't do well if it stays cloudy more than a day or two, but we are desperate for moisture...Wet sheep everywhere, and boy are they loving it. Poor things already have most of their winter coats, and it was in the 90's until last week. My 30 year old mare is rolling in the mud and kicking up her heels like a filly....When this blows out we're going to have our first really hard freeze. Bye bye tomatoes and chiles...

Got safely back to work and have just come back home. The lightning & thunder continued most of the evening, as did the rain. On the bright side, though, the library was pratically deserted, so I wasn't busy at all.
Listened to the news on the way home, and heard that folks whose homes were in or near the fire areas are now worried about mudslides. They should have gotten worried about that right after the fires and taken steps to guard against mudslides! After all, this is a cycle that happens on an almost yearly basis in Southern California. All in one evening.

The winds here in Cleveland blew out a window in the back of our house. We didn't get any snow, but I'm not looking forward to be blown away when I go outside this morning. There was a tornado in Wooster (south of Cleveland) that did some awful damage.

This morning was laughable. I spent my "bathroom time" painstakingly curling my hair and brushing it. Not one second after I walked out the front door, the wind blew it and it looked worse than when I woke up! I guess I should have used a can of hairspray instead of just a spritz.
Getting to work was fun. There was loads of trash (it's trash day) to dodge as well as flying branches. The poor children walking (or should I say being pushed) to school looked pitiful!
The wind had died down, though. Gusts are only 50+ mph. To those of you who are getting it now - batten down the hatches and hang on!
A powerful cell from the storm system stalled
for more than an hour over the heart of the city east of Los Angeles
International Airport, dumping rain and hail that accumulated at a rate
of more than two inches an hour. Air traffic in and out of the airport
was halted temporarily by limited visibility and erratic winds gusting
as high as 30 mph.
