Hi - thought I would check in & say hi & let you know that Friday nite I had my roommate take me the emergency room at our local hospital because I was having great difficulty breathing.

What they found out that night is that I have blood clots in my lungs and it's common for people who have had cancer to get them. Oh yea. So my wonderful roomie brought the laptop from home and got me hooked up while I stay in bed and don't move around too much.

I'm ok and had missed checking in on all of you. I am probably going to have to be here in the hospital until weds/thurs. I have to wait until my blood thins enough and breaks up the clots.

My right arm looks a pin cushion cause they aren't supposed to mess at all with my left arm - breast cancer thing, you know.
But I would really appreciate it if you send some good thoughts my way. I'm also learning to ask for help since I'm pretty much confined to quarters in the hospital.

Thanks in advance and it's really good to be hooked back up with a computer. Take care everyone.

Sending very good thoughts. I need the practice anyway and I hate being in the hospital so I empathize. But having a computer there would help maintain sanity. To me the TV doesn't help at all.

Hey, Mary, thanks for letting us know! Don't let this blood-clot thing wear you down; it is common and, while a horrible nuisance, won't set you back on your road to recovery.

So... I'm trying to think of funny stuff to link or tell to keep you occupied... I don't suppose Mr. Snaffleburger would be quite right... well, heck... maybe I just oughtta point you to the idiotic remarks that have been liberally scattered throughout the last few days' threads. In fact, if you want to laugh your hospital socks off, go read this link Gravid posted over the weekend:

Get well soon and pop in as you're able to let us know how you're getting on

Well, that's a bummer, mlb618! Also, if you can try and cut your smoking down to 12 packs a day, it might make a big difference.

Mary,

I wondered where you were today. I could tell from your comments here a couple of days ago that you are very special! Now that you have a laptop you shouldn't have a problem finding something here to keep a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye.

Take it easy and please keep us posted on your progress.

Helen

Take care and I hope you are well again very soon, Mary.

Does anyone know how Davebraun is doing? Hope he is recovering also and good thoughts go out to him too.

Mary, lots of good thoughts going your way. Good thing you went in. Tomorrow, I'll find some good jokes.

Good morning! Here is is 7:30 am and an hour ago I woke up to an ederly woman down the hall yelling at the nurses and assistants. Poor thing, didn't sound like she's happy to be here.

I thought I'd check in and say thanks for all the good wishes and thoughts for me, I really do appreciate it.

Yesterday they took me off oxygen and moved me to a less critical floor in the hospital. And hopefully they will move me to a private room today, I really could use the rest. I'm not exactly sure what day I am going to be able to get out of here, but I can't leave until they get my blood levels where they want them.

Thanks for the link - very good about the critters. lol

I've talked to a lot of doctor's and nurses and am getting use to the routine of things, well I guess you can call it a routine. I know that I get my shots at 9 am & 9 pm & my blood drawn around 4 am. And at various times day & night the staff comes around and take my temp and blood pressure. So much fun, so little time eh?

Talk to you soon, take care and thanks again.
