I know, could have put this in the other Passion thread, sorry

I finally went, went with my 2 daughters and their boyfriends.

I can say that it was a very well made film, even with all subtitles. The theater was packed, not one seat left. Matinee showing.

Yes it was 'gory' and violent, but I think we all pretty much knew that, if you've read any of the gospels.

I did not see any anti semitism in this movie at all.

I think it was a very, very powerful movie, and not one person left, passed out, had a heart attack, or anything else out of the ordinary

(and I didn't even look at my ticket to see if it had any 666 in either )

NearTheSea - Thanks for your review. I was going to see it last week, but too many things around here needed to be repaired and they took precedence. Hopefully, I'll be able to see it this week.

What did the girls and their boyfriends [one future SIL - save, save, save ] think? Did they discuss it with you after viewing the movie?

Here's an op-ed article in the WSJ today that speaks to some of the issues brought up in the other thread about The Passion. Fears over what would happen IF this movie were made, and why those predictions didn't come about.....a couple of those who objected to it and why....and a shared belief you and I have about how Christians don't 'blame' the Jews for Christ's death.

one small quote:

".....obvious for decades that American Christianity embodies a warm and symbolic attachment to the Jewish religion, believing as it does in a Judeo-Christian ethic with strong, literal emphasis on the Old Testiment."

I'm hoping bunni and anyone else who sees this movie will post their opinions on it too.

Linda, actually? they are the ones that 'pushed' me to go! The youngest(the one thats waiting for 'carats in her Easter basket' from her guy ) was the one that was bugging me and bugging me for all of us to go.

Believe it or not, the oldest, she WAS a Wiccan, then athiest, now? Who knows, she is the one that cried the most! And really all the Christian exposure she has had (my bad) is I took her to Mass a few times, and she has been to all the Catholic weddings and funerals on my side of the family. Her father had taken her to a Baptist church once when she was very small, so I don't think she remembers any of that.

But she was getting seriously into the Wiccan thing, then dropped that, and told me she was an atheist when she was about 20. I don't know what prompted her want to see this so much.

After, she says she wanted to know more!

She is now dating a 28 yr old H.S. history teacher, and he is very nice
(that had nothing to do with any of this, only that I'm so glad, because of the LOSERS she went with before )

NearTheSea - I know what you mean....some of the stages they go through, some of the people they date as they're making their own life choices, can give a parent gray hair real quick.
I think it's called 'pay back' for what we [may have] put our parents though.

One of mine is married and the other has been dating a girl for a year or so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he keeps looking... Not nice, but truthful.

LOL Linda!

You can call them Losers!

even if they are girls!

except by some chance in a billion, your son meets my girl, you cannot call her one

Yes, I do think its a reverse thing they did to me with some of the guys they went out with! The last one, I won't even go there, BUT say that he was going out with a married woman at the same time he was with my daughter! Yeah she was hurt, so I really think she got smarter about guys. It took her a long time to meet this one, and they are going very slowly, which is good
