Today, I deleted THREE Trojan viruses from my computer. At least two of them were loop Trojans. I didn't download anything or click on anything in my emails. I also had TWO programs automatically download themselves to my computer. Thankfully, my anti-virus software caught all of them. I guess that email viruses are not the only thing you now have to worry about. It would seem that by just surfing the Internet, these unscrupulous people can automatically download unwanted programs to your machine. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting sick of it. I get more and more spam email everyday as well. I use Adaware 6.0 daily and it catches 70+ pieces of spy ware each time. I may as well invite these people into my home to watch me take a shower. They know everything else about me. To beat all, I had two pop-up ads when I went on eBay. One of them was from Bidville, a site I never visit. They are managing to get through my pop-up blocker. I haven't wanted to use my firewall because it interfers with a lot of sites I visit including eBay.

Earthlink has a good program to catch spam. Before I began using it, I had hundreds of spam emails every day. Now, I've reduced my mail to only receive those in my address book. If I begin selling on Ebay again, I can change that option to a less exclusive setting.
Your firewall may be set to a very high level of security. With mine set on high, I can't access anything - including Vendio. I sometimes wonder if a firewall is really necessary...But I haven't had a problem with viruses of any kind. Thank my lucky stars for that because I am soooo dumb about computers. I might have to call NerdBoy again. Hahaha

My ISP screens for virus but spam is a problem. I need to be accessible to all so I have to live with it. Generally I receive 500-700 spam daily, Norton gets some and my email program Eudora gets many more but at least 200 get through. A big waste of time.

I just downloaded a great program from Starware called Privacy Manager. They don't ask for any personal information at all. It has the ad zapper and a privacy button so that no one knows where you are surfing. I'll let you all know how good it actually works. Here's the URL if anyone wants to check it out:
I'm on cable Internet and from what I understand, a firewall is almost necessary and that the one that comes with the router is worthless. I'll have to read up a bit more on my firewall to make it no so restrictive.
