For some damn reason, I cannot set up newsgroups in Outlook. I totally switched over to comcast cable internet.... I've always had it, but finally dumped the ISP I had for the last 8 years.
So. I only like newsgroups in outlook express. I don't like the web based ones.
I got the right set up from comcast, I think (I've set these up before) news.comcast.giganews.com and go through the whole thing, and nada.
Does anyone else have comcast and use newsgroups?
Thanks!

well that sucks! esp how much cable internet costs, you'd think they could at least 'allow' you access to newsgroups

Are you using your Comcast user name and pw? If I recall when Comcast hooked up with that outfit, they sent an email with how to set up your account and the user name/pw was NOT the same as your comcast info.

desquirrel.... yes I am! see we've always had comcast (att or home.com before) but I was able to 'tap' into the cable using my old ISP (don't ask why I kept it I guess I didn't want to change email addys after all that time) So, I get a comcast email, and use it in outlook. I have always used newsgroups. The other half doesn't and he's always used comcast from the beginning, so he was no help
I go to their 'help' page, and find the settings, which I thought were the settings, and its like twelve says.
So you have to use a different name and pw then your comcast email??
Why do they make things so complicated!

The user name and password comcast sent me to access the newsgroups is different than my comcast ids. This is not a comcast news server, they contract out and don't run their own. Call customer service and find out if you have a specific user id and pw for the newsgroups. In Outlook or whichever program you use, you enter the user id and pw for each mail server and/or newsgroup. They don't have to be the same, they can all be different.
