This is one of those threads about one going through family photoes considering those who will be left behind. Some of the family have no clue and its hard to ask. Well I'm in that bag and having problems. Nobody ever ask me now here we stand 100 years later. Maybe some other family stories will help.

I'm not sure what you're asking MAH. Are you saying you're the last one in the family?

Yeah, a little clarification on that might get some better responses.

I'm interpreting you to mean that you have family photographs that are unidentifiable? A family history that has gone by the wayside? If so, you are not alone. I got most of the paternal grandmother's information from a complete stranger on the Internet. Her family history was lost until now. Her husband? Have no clue what his history is. Neither does my father. As far as my maternal side goes, I know my great grandparents immigrated from Scotland to Canada to Michigan and that's about all I know. Try researching the name MacDonald (could also be McDonald). It's a daunting task. We have boxes of photographs with no names or dates attached to them. My mother has been trying, but she's in the beginning stages of Alzheimers and has other worries. My children will most likely be left with boxes of photos and nothing to relate them to. Most of the people who knew our history have passed on and those who are left really don't care. It's a shame.

Who cares? Sounds like you do.

I was fortunate when it comes to family. Not all of them but half of them. There is someone in the family that does family trees and he has done one on my fathers mother. It is a great piece of history. In it there is a titanic survivor, a ex girl friend of Napoleon, French 500. A small town in Ohio where they were from. Very interesting and it will be passed on.
On my mothers side her grandfather a civil war veteran and that is all we know about that. I do have a picture of him and also I have his Civil War discharge papers. But it is at least something to pass on. Many pictures left with no name on the back but if I get my magnifying glass out I might recognize them. I am putting together a scrap book for my daughter with pertenant history of our family. I hope she appreciates it but what ever she does with it is her business at least I did my part to keep the family around.

There are only me and my Brother left in the family other than his kids,I never had any. Some of the photos in question are my fathers mother and dad which none of us ever knew. This was my brothers Step-Father, I don't think he has ever seen the photos and I believe he probably only has a few months to live so the photos will be going to his children. He will probably see them as I will sent them next week.

Sorry to hear about your brother. My MIL just lost her last sibling [out of five] and she fell into a short-term depression over it. I hope you take care of yourself.

And I hope there's someway you'll be able to see your brother before it's too late to do so.
