I like the beauty and the history of the U.S. but what I like most is the patriotism everyone has. It's admirable.

I agree kd! In another thread, I stated I have been around the world, and this is my favorite place to be! Where I would rather live, raise children and grow old.
BTW, I also feel I'm quite patriotic. I get chills when I hear the National Anthem and feel pride when I see the flag in a parade. I collected red, white and blue stuff when you couldn't buy it anywhere.

I like the fact that you can speak your mind, and if people dont like it, they can pretty much lump it.

Twelve darling! You're back to your old self - finally! So, if you moved to France, that would make you French? How did you know I go for the real Einstein types?

Well, KD, so much for this being a nice thread. Bitter twelve just had to jump in and make a smart crack. Turn the tables, KD. So, one of the things you like about Canada is that twelve doesn't live there! Right? Lucky gal!

Kraft,
I like the people of Canada. Every time I go there, I always meet nice people. When they come here to Michigan, they are always nice too.
twelve,
Your sig line is, Homosexuality is a choice that can be corrected...
What do you think about stupidity and rudeness? Is that something a person chooses, or just a natural way of doing things for some people? Of all the people here, you could probably give the best answer.

Kraft.. I have heard that statement from a few Canadians, besides yourself.
One friend told me that she doesn't feel the same sense of patriotism in Canada as we feel here in the US.
Could it be that Canadians are just more reserved? Is it a country divided? Being so large in area.. do you think each province acts on it's own behalf as a separate entity? Or is there "One Canada" for all? The reason I ask is that you have the French province of Quebec.. one in ten.. and they have been trying to separate from Canada for years..then out West in British Columbia.. they seem to distance themselves from the rest too... Why do you think this is? maggie

I like reading about and watching movies about the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, I like all 'period' movies, mostly about the beginnings of America....
I need more to watch.. even if fiction...
I have Cold Mountain, The Patriot (Mel Gibson) Scarlett Letter (I like the old 'witch burning' ones) The Crucible
need more !

Maggie, you got that right. There's not much patriotism going on in Canada but one thing that I'll always remember, is after 911, MANY people here flew U.S. flags for months. It made me feel proud!
As far a Quebec goes, they're in their own little world. I've been there a few times and it's got some beautiful places but the people are baked.

I have only visited Nova Scotia in Canada. What a beautiful place and the people were all so friendly! My daughter who was married there, lives in the U.S. now but she has a 2nd citizenship there.
I believe that I could be a patriot anywhere that I might choose to live.

Kraft.. why does the rest of Canada put up with that one French province.. Is it true that all Canadian laws and everything have to be bi-lingual? Geesh.. can you imagine that here.. just for one state! Why put up with that crap? In fact I read that in Quebec.. their first official language is French...how can they maintain such control?
By the way.. I have been to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland (sp?) took the ferry over to Newfoundland and got sicker than a dog.. LOL... beautiful country! Nice people... they seem to speak their very own brand of English there too.. LOL.. mm not Michael Moore..

twelve,
You seem to be the only one who is concerned with who may or may not be gay. This is a question and not a statement. Are you looking? If you are, then maybe you will find the love of your life! Good luck!
