Last night Mark and I went to dinner and a movie with some friends.
As it takes 45 minutes to get to the theater, we left a little early, thank God! Dan had just had his water pump replaced, but when smoke started rolling out, we decided to pull in a rural place that replaces tires. Turns out they didn't hook up the hose that goes into the radiator completely at the dealership. We let it cool down, Mark tightened the hose, filled it with water and went along out merry way. We picked up our tickets to "The Village" and went on to a wonderful dinner.
Without giving anything away, it wasn't the big "spookfest" we thought it was going to be. It wasn't a bad movie, there were a couple spots that made you jump, just not what we were expecting.
Has anyone else seen it?

TerryAnn

btw- We got home OK...lol...What an adventure.

Nice, so what was for dinner?

So the movie goes more for suspense than horror?

Good morning 12!

We went to the PennWells in Wellsboro, PA, for their buffet. Salad bar was OK, but the main courses were better. I had the mahi, some pork cooked with onions, and a little prime rib. (Sometimes a girl just has to have a little red meat...lol!) A large selections of desserts, I chose cheesecake with blueberries, although the carrot cake looked really good too. (I knew I should have started with dessert instead of salad!) Surprisingly, our coffee was included. An older gent played the piano while we ate...It was very nice for $16.95 and had something for anyone's palate. If you are in the area I highly recommend. The menu is varied with several selections under $10.00.

The movie isn't what I would call suspenseful, definitely not horror. I really don't know how to classify it. My daughter saw "I, Robot" last weekend. Jazz didn't think she would like it, based on the commercials, but said she was really impressed with it, especially the ending, which she said is "surprising". We plan on seeing it, so she wouldn't go into detail. I had to buy her husband a beer so he would keep his mouth shut..lol! She said "King Arthur" is alot like "Braveheart", we would like to see that and "The Manchurian Candidate" as well.

I haven't seen it, but I picture it more sci-fi than horror. I stayed home last night and watched Thirteen Ghosts yet again. I find new things in that movie each time I watch it. The bad part was I was home alone all night. Ken had to play (plays guitar in a band) and my son went out. I live in a very old home with a life of it's own anyway, so I spent the evening jumping at every little noise! LOL!

We hardly ever go to movies, and we never rent them, so I'm way behind on all the good ones. Did see Fahrenheit of course, two weeks ago. First movie in a movie theater in about 7 years.

Last night I happened to catch The Talented Mr. Ripley. It was very interesting. I'd heard about it and about the author, long ago, named Patricia Highsmith. Now I may have to read some of her books.

Have any of you seen that movie, and what did you think of it?

I went to see "The Village" on Friday night. What a disappointment!!!!!

Don't get me wrong--it starts well, and has a nice, forboding atmosphere. But then....nothing. I can't say any more without giving away the plot. But I will say this: you might want to wait until it comes out on video--and even then I'd check it out from the library instead of spending rental store fees.

Oh yeah--this is not an action-packed film. That doesn't bother me at all, but there were people all around me who got very antsy at the slow pace and the guy sitting next to me kept sighing loudly....

edited to add a much needed space. Darn keyboard!

I Robot was a great movie I thought, good special effects and action. Not like the book but then not many movies are.

Well guess will wait on The Village, but man a good buffet for under $20, now that sounds good... mmmmm

bunni- I agree. I wouldn't recommend buying the video/dvd or going to see it at the theater. Rent or borrow it. I did think Ron Howard's daughter did him proud, considering.
