I was watching the ABC Morning news and saw Bush speaking to a group in Annandale, Virginia. He said many things the crowd apparently like as they applauded many time. To me, it was a bunch of blather.
But! What caught my attention was his closing statement when he said, "Well, I have to get back to the White House to make sure they're not spending too much money".
It sort of reminded me of watch Santa Claus telling the kiddies, "Well, I have to get back to the North Pole to make sure the elves are making the toys".
I wonder how many speech writers it took to come up with that little gem...while the deficit grows and grows and grows under the leadership of the "big spender".
I suppose "Santa" does have to watch his budget so he will be able to keep the elite's stockings stuffed with billions.

He's setting up his defense for the ever-ballooning debt he's driving the country into: he'll be able to point to this statement & say it was caused by staff spending while he was away from the house...
