If you're talking about major events it's definately the 70's in my book. The Kent State shootings happened, Vietnam War ended in 1975 with the fall of Saigon, Nixon resigned, the Bicenntenial happened, the Jonestown Massacre occured, among others. And, I graduated from high school! There was a lot of bad mixed with a lot of good in the 1970's. The best, of course, being the end of the Vietnam War followed by Nixon's resignation.

Just what did you find negative in that sentence, twelve? Oops, I forgot. You probably are refering to Nixon's resignation. Nothing negative there.

The 90's get my vote, the 1890's that is. A time when it was refered to as the gay 90's. A time when gay meant something else than it does today.
Although I was not alive then it still was a very remarkable time. All sorts of new and exciting inventions were being made. The west was still wild but only to the extent that the inhabitants allowed themselves to be involved in. The major Indian wars had ended with the skirmish in December of 1890 at Wounded Knee and a general sense of peace and prosperity had set in across the land.
There were still great stands of virgin forests in the northwest and in other areas of the country as well. The wild places now known as wilderness were still wild and allthough most of the buffalo were gone there were still huge herds of antelope, elk, deer and all manner of wildlife abounded across the land. Great schools of fish teemed in the rivers, streams and oceans. The salmon runs were at a high point.
The waters, air, soil and generally the rest of the environment was still clean and fresh. A person out in the wilderness or one of the many desert areas could go for days without seeing any sign of another human being, no roads, telephone wires, aircraft flying overhead or bubble gum wrappers and spent beer cans on the ground.
Yes, you can have your 1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and even the 1990's. With all that life has to offer now with computers, the internet, wars, fast cars, gasoline shortages, 100's of different kinds of cereal on store shelves, twinkies, landfills, polution, rap music, hatred of ones fellow man towards each other, $400.00 pairs of tennis shoes, vcr's, microwaves, George Forman grills, plastic use once and throw away crap sold at numerous large chain stores, rules, regulations and yes even politics.

Sounds like some places in Canada.
I liked the way you wrote all of that about the 1890's, Yellowstone. Thanks for the good read.

Yellowstone I have one beef about your post. The George Forman Grill. It's the best thing that ever happened to hamburger and chicken. Well since I don't barbecue it's probably the next best thing.
Myself I would have liked the 20's Women wore dresses and hats, Fashion was out of this world. Jewelry art deco. Men always dressed in suits. Politeness was above everything. First the horse and buggy then the model T or A's. Seems like a great decade.
But I Enjoyed the 50's. Big Bands, then rock and Roll, Friday nite soc hop. My High School Graduation. Big decade in my life. I think the 50's had the most change. Music, Dress, the chevy's The muscle Cars, sports car i.e. corvette, the big fins (dodge), dual exhausts, load levelers, continental wheel, did I leave something out?
What I mean about dress the jeans came into focus not just for the men but for the women.
and I think the 2 piece bathing suit.

Sprinkle a little Olive oil in the BBQ, FLAMES! That'll get that chicken Kickin. It'll burn off and right back to a normal BBQ. I did it last night, I liked it. The Chicken was not amused.

I have gas grilled. Hot dogs, roasts and hamburgers but I guess I am just lazy. In order to grill the grill has to be spanking clean, per husband, or he won't eat the meat. I try and tell him the heat from the coals will destroy all bacteria but doesn't believe me. So George is the next best thing.
