Like everyone else I am anxious for the debates to begin.. so I thought it would be interesting to hold our own Poll here on the Round Table.

Here's the deal.. vote only once, and vote for who you believe will win..and give a brief explanation why you think he will win.

(This may not necessarily be the person that you are voting for, but the candidate who you think will win the election if it were to be held today.)

Okay.. I will go first..

I am a Democrat but I believe President Bush will be re-elected. I think that Kerry's campaign has been based to much on his War Hero Status and not enough on how he will deal with the issues. I am not saying that this is his fault entirely, as he has had to spend a great deal of his time defending his war record.. and the bad press has hurt his chances.. But I believe he should have shown more strength of conviction and got his message out there loud and clear. In my opinion, he hasn't done that.. maybe we will see this during the debates... anyhow.. sadly I must vote for President Bush right now as the candidate who will win the election if it was held today...Doc

Well, dr., I agree with you. And Kerry brought it on himself by campaining strictly on his "war record". Every sentence that leaves his mouth, he tells you what a hero he was. He made a big mistake. He's just not very bright, in my opinion. Bush will win. And, just for the record, I'm an Independent.

Great thread now lets see if stays that way You know how things can change really quick.

I am a republican, voting for Bush but it is a tight race, polls are close. It will be a nail biter again. I feel he will win because there has been too many promises by Kerry that I honestly see cannot be achieved.

I am an independent & will be voting for Kerry. Unfortunately, as I've said before, I believe Bush will win simply because we are currently at war & it is a slim chance to unseat a wartime president.

Great thread. Everyone is being honest and intelligent. Let's see who will be the first to mess it up.

I'm an Independent who has re-registered this year - joining the Republican party for the first time in my life. [And I'm older than dirt ] I made this decision because I'm really beginning to feel that the democratic party is leading us down the path to socialism....and I don't like it. I believe in government giving a 'helping hand' for a short while, then people should become self-reliant and grow up and take care of themselves and those the produce - not be encouraged to become government dependent for life.

To those who are not aware, I didn't vote for Bush in 2000. I voted for Nader....a protest vote because I didn't like either choice. But this Presidents actions, following 9-11, have impressed me greatly.

I believe President Bush will be re-elected because I think voters can see:

his strength of character,

his moral committments,

his family values,

how he truly is doing the best he can to protect this great Nation of ours,

how he supports our country having a strong military,

how he has guts to 'go it alone' if need be, when it's in our Nations best interests, and he's not an Internationalist who believes we can't make a move without UN approval.

he's tried to bring the economy back from the recession and the tech boom that burst before before he took office, and having to deal with the effects of 9-11 and two wars.

I think the majority of American's judge him to be someone they can more easily relate to....more down to earth...more honest...more average, with lots of common sense and much more straight forward than his opponent.

But I firmly believe that in times like these...with the threat of terrorism...American's want and need a man willing to make a decision and stand with it...even to the point of realizing it couldn cost him re-election.....not going with the 'change in the current wind' or not with a belief that we can 'reason or talk' the terrorist out of their plans for our Nation.

And especially re-electing a President who's on OUR side. Not a traitor to his own country nor one who says our Democracy is a farce....and wants to lead like the Europeans are led.

Well...that was pretty short....

I only know that Kerry/Edwards will win Pennsylvania. This is just the 10th round of a 12 round prize fight. I think the debates will tell all.

Nader.

Why you say, well partly because of what Linda said; a protest vote because I beleive this is what most democrats are feeling right now and also because I beleive that alot of other Democrats will come to their senses and realise that Kerry is a dead stick candidate. So I say now to all you Democrats out there; Wake up and cast your vote for Nader.

Nader, the other white candidate.

My vote would go ,of course, to Kerry.

But it's really up to the CEO of Diebold (THE MAKERS OF THE VOTING MACHINES)who says he can hand Bush the election. So I guess Bush will win in this wonderful democracy of ours.

Apparently not all the votes in New Mexico counted either but you don't hear anyone bitching about it.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A22536-2004Aug21.html?nav=rss_politics/elections/2004

From the site;
The Washington Post examined the voting results here because New Mexico had the narrowest winning margin in the presidential contest, and Rio Arriba County had the largest percentage of voters who had no presidential vote. The review discovered that 203 voters turned out in one of Rio Arriba's voting districts, but the state's certified results show "0" votes were recorded for Gore or Bush.

Ed to say; Sorry but it seems my link isn't working, but you can find it by googling, type in; votes rio arriba county

What's that supposed to mean....that it's OK to not count votes ?????

President Bush will get my vote.

I believe he is a man of faith, character, and is not swayed by the polls - he stands by what he believes and acts on what he believes. I trust him.

And actually, when Kerry first started advertising on tv, I thought his ads made himself look bad. He showed himself in Vietnam, then in the same ad he showed himself talking to Congress against the war and his fellow soldiers.

I thought that was a contradiciton and I don't understand why he formatted his TV ad that way. He scares me. His wife scares me, too. I just do not trust either of them. Just a gut feeling when ever I see them speak.

I'm voting for Bush

I have to agree with DrDolittle about Kerry. His campaign with Edwards started with his Vietnam record, and now *looks* like its not going well, but everyday there is something new, so who knows.

I think it will be close, but I think Bush will win.
