Recently I visited a local hair salon to get my hair colored (easier than pulling grays!) and they turned my hair a dark magenta shade. I am a strawberry blonde (okay I need a little help keeping it that way as I get older!) I told the girl who did my hair that I could not go home like that! She tried to tone the reds down, but was in a hurry because in 20 minutes the salon was having a meeting and she needed to get me out of there. So needless to say only a small portion of the front was not magenta --she was in a hurry. I explained to her that I did not want to look like that because I volunteer at the school. Don't want to look like the wild mother. The girls in the salon thought that was funny making jokes like oh "you don't want to be rockstar red!" So the girl said give it a couple days and if you just hate it I will take more of the red out! Well they hurried me out of there I went home to realize that they only got out a very small percentage of the magenta in the front. I begged to come in the next morning to have someone fix it. Of course they could not get me in until later that day! I would have to go to school with as my little son called it purple hair! So I made an appointment elsewhere. It took 15 minutes to get rid of the magenta.

They will not refund the money because they said they would have fixed it and they will color it again for free (and free treatments to restore my hair the way it was- sounded like I was going to incure damage when they fixed it). Yeah right? Why would I want to go somewhere where they would take my $100 and let me walk out the door like that! So I thought I will refute the charge but my credit card company says I had to give them a chance to fix it. I did give them a chance to fix it when I was in the salon. How many chances do they get?

If I owned the place I would have wanted to fix that immediately instead of having someone be a walking advertisement like that! As I read this it sounds like a stupid problem, but I am really ticked about them not refunding the money I paid! Any advise??? Thanks!

IMO, you paid for a service that was rendered, albeit poorly. A charge back would only open a can of worms and give them cause to say negative things about you. Send the salon a polite letter requesting a refund by certified mail. Then, when this is refused, sue them in small claims court. Small claims court will eat a half a day out of someone's schedule and broadcast to the world their atrocious treatment of a customer. If you lose, put a brick through their window. But that's just me.

Hopefully you have photos of your "magenta side" and photos of the "fixed" side, (the original salon's mess). A "witness" from the other salon, or at least a letter from them should help also. They had an opportunity to repair it and should, at the very least, have squeezed you in the next morning, imo.

There is probably nothing I can do. It seems such a shame that if you are given such a rotten service you are expected to go back for more. I did cut some of the wonderful magenta looking hair. Even though the girl appologized and admitted it was rock star color I am the bad guy -- because I did not want to go back for more! So I am going to write a really nice letter to the owner explaining that I just can not come back for a while and request the refund. Its kind of like when you go to a restaurant and the food is bad. You're just not in any hurry to go back. Parklane the brick sounds good -- but they probably just have insurance to cover it.
