I'm almost afraid to get all off-topic and present a NON-politcal toptic, but I will anyway.

How many kids did you get for beggar's night?

I live in a pretty busy suburban neighborhood and had only FOUR kids, after buying three friggin bags of candy!

I'd go into more detail, but I have to go eat some more rice crispy treats...

What's Beggar's Night?
Halloween is tomorrow.....maybe that's why you didn't have many kids

We get a lot of kids. I think I bought 10 pounds. Last year, they dropped them off by the van load from another part of town into our neighborhood.

I love Halloween, I love the little ones, but when they are 17 or 18 or older! and 'trick or treat' it makes me kinda mad, its a kid thing, not for older teens.

I buy candy I like cuz we never get anyone! I like those little Milky Way bars...I can eat a "whole" candy bar, or even two, and not feel too guilty...lol! (I even bought a multi-pack of Reese Peanut Butter Pumpkins, but don't tell Mark!)

I don't know why they did it on Friday night this year! Saturday night was at least closer to Halloween!

Next year I'm telling the neighbors to have biscuits on hand, Jazz is going to bring my "grandchildren", Fuji, Angel, and Puck (white German Shepherd, Doberman/Rott mix, and Chihuahua) out trick-or-treating. Should be fun!

Ours was tonight, from 5pm-7pm. But some places had it Friday, and some are having it on Sunday. I don't EVER remember it being on a Saturday before this year.

My granddaughter gets to go out twice this year. Tonight was trick-or-treat in my mother's neighborhood and tomorrow night it's in our neighborhood.

My mother's neighborhood had it tonight because of the time change happening. They wanted the children to be able to have more daylight to trick-or-treat. It makes sense.

Begger's Night? I'm not sure what that is either but I picture Twelve handing out copies of the employment section to everyone.

Some people call Halloween "beggar's night" because the kids go door to door asking for candy.

Some areas call the night before Halloween, October 30, Beggars Night & their kids must go trick-or-treating on that night instead. This was started because of the sometimes excessive vandalism on Halloween.

Yeha, what she said.

Halloween is always the on the 31st.

"Beggar's night", "Trick or Treat" or whatever your area calls it can be whenever the city decides to hold it.

And yes, I can see him passing out little "get a job" cards too

You're both wrong... I don't pass out anything.

Candy is bad for children and you can't give out fruit these days because of all the kooks...

well crowfarm is more than a kook...

Besides it is more fun to watch them try to out run the dog...

There is a woman on my mother's street that hands out stuffed animals and another that gives out rolls of pennies. Both great ideas!

Besides, once my daughter "checks" Tiffany's candy I don't think there's a whole lot left. LOL!

Tonight is the date for "trick or treating" in my area. From about 7 to 10 the kids will arrive in droves. Last year a little Chinese boy arrived about 4PM without a bag to ask me, " What time we get candy?". I gave him some candy and told him that usually after dinner was the time to start.

Since they've been on Dad to lose some weight, Mom has given out nickels, toothbrushes, pencils, etc.

Dad's birthday is Nov 1st, so we always had to take some of our "best stuff" and make him up a box. (He always liked the best stuff from our "hauls"....lol!) With 7 children, it was a good sized box! Now the grandchildren keep up the "tradition".

When I was growing up the night before halloween was known as mischief night! Egging flouring etc...but I'd imagine thats probably a felony now! heh!

The newspaper here did a thing on whats your favorite candy? One guy wrote about mounds bars and his dislike for them: Why are you giving me coconut on halloween? - Whats up with that?!"

I hated getting those dark chocolates. Always tasted like bland cooking chocolate to me...but I like mounds - even if coconut seems too tropical for the time of year. I guess like most kids, gum was always my favorite. (Chalky Double bubble the best.)

Beggar's Night is the first Tuesday in November when the failed sitting president tries to convince everyone to vote for him.

Actually, my mother is 74 years old. She is first generation from Scottish decent. She has always called it beggars night.
