While you think about how to do better next time, please stay true to your core values and feelings. Don't restrain your anger; part of your problem in this election was that you didn't put it out there enough. If other Americans understood how truly mad you are it would make more of an impression.

You need to try harder to make them see that you're smarter and better than your opponents. Unleash your indignation and express your outrage and they will start to get your superiority to the religious fanatics, racists and homophobes who oppose you. You've got to make the point over and over that these people are intolerant stupid hicks while you are smart, good and wise.

Face it, you're just not getting your message across. You run mild, polite candidates who can't or won't let it all hang out. If everyone understood, really understood, your anger, intelligence and moral superiority, well, things would have turned out differently.

Americans again prove Pres Bush is the best man for the job

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The person who has nothing for which he is willing
to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Bear, I think you just described Teresa Kerry, maybe they should have run her for President. She certainly has no problem letting it all hang out and showing her anger.

au contrare ... puhleeez everyone, stop spewing 'hate' and negativity, bitterness and 'fighting' about this election.

i've been biting my tongue all week ...

my astonishment in 'REAL TIME' came a couple days ago when Edwards concession speech came, where i was thinking, my God is he trying to start a war between the States?!!!!! I could not believe how MANY times he invoked divisive words into his few minute speech!!! he was absolutely vehement!

(at least Kerry's concession speech spoke of his agreement with Bush of the important need, HE said "we talked about the danger of division in our country and the need, the desperate need, for unity for finding the common ground, coming together.")

So thank goodness Kerry had kinder, softer words than Edwards!!! Cripe, he should have had Kerry proof his notes! ...

darn it, we need to be as near 'one' as we can be, in the face of terrorism, and cherish the freedoms we *do* have, in comparison to abroad. We have the same freedoms we had a week ago, a month ago, and many years ago, thanks to being born in the United States of America!!!!

edwards speech seemed to me, commando pseudo-confederate, and made my jaw drop after hearing the first four or five "fight" interjections, with more to come, in his short speech!

Edwards: "Well, it was a long night and a long morning, and even though the outcome won't change, I want you to know that we will continue to fight for every vote.

(APPLAUSE)

Because every vote matters in our America and we will honor each one of you who stood with us and who stood in line to change your country.

We believe in you. We didn't stop fighting for you when this campaign began and we won't stop fighting for you when this campaign ends.

EDWARDS: Your cause will always be our cause. And nothing makes John and me prouder than standing with all of you.

In this hour, I'm held up by the love of my life, Elizabeth, and by our beautiful children.

(APPLAUSE) {op note: i applaud that too}

And I draw great strength by standing with the man I fought alongside with the last four months, his beautiful wife Teresa and his wonderful daughters and sons.

(APPLAUSE)

EDWARDS: John Kerry is a great American.

(APPLAUSE)

To be a part of the most important election of our lifetime and to fight for so many things of value and consequence, it was nothing short of an honor to work with such a kind, caring and remarkable man.

You cannot fight 18 hours a day, seven days a week unless you love America.

EDWARDS: And John loves this country.

(APPLAUSE)

In this campaign, we worked hard and we hoped that the results would be different. And I want to talk to the tens of millions of people who worked alongside us, who believed in our cause and who stood with us.

You can be disappointed, but you cannot walk away. This fight has just begun.

(APPLAUSE)

Together we will carry on and we will be with you every step of the way.

You stood in line for 10 hours because you want your government to stand up for you. You stood in the rain to vote because you want to build one America. You missed classes, field hockey, soccer practices.

EDWARDS: You stood for hours and hours to let your voices be heard. Well, we heard you. And I want you to hear me.

This campaign may end today. But the battle for you and the hark-working Americans who built this country rages on.

The battle rages for the factory worker and the mill worker who says, "I want to work. I just want a job."

The battle rages on for the mother who sits in the emergency room with her daughter and wonders how she is going to pay the bill.

The battle rages on for the young person who's worked hard and wants to go to collect but doesn't have the money to pay for it.

It goes on for the young child who doesn't understand why they are treated differently just because of the color of their skin.

And it rages on for the mother who wants to know why her son was sent over there and will not come home.

This fight will continue in our homes and in our union halls, in our churches, and in our schools, in our offices and over the Internet.

EDWARDS: We will keep marching toward that one America and we're not going to stop until we get there.

(APPLAUSE)

You know, I've learned a lot of lessons in my life. Two of the most important are first, there will always be heartache and struggle. You can't make it go away. But the other is that people of good and strong will can make a difference. And we can make a difference. Rest assured, we will make a difference.

One lesson is a sad lesson, but the other lesson is inspiring. And we are Americans, and so we choose to be inspired.

We choose to be inspired because we know we can do better, because this is America, where everything is still possible.

EDWARDS: And at the end of our heartache today resides an eternal hope for the country we're going to fight for and the country we're going to build together.

Ladies and gentlemen, the man who never surrendered his hopes and dreams for the country he loves so much, Senator John Kerry."
---------

In closing, what I'm getting at here, is that I could not believe how many times Edwards interjected "fighting words", as if amongst ourselves .... that is nothing but counterproductive ... we all wanna be weak? a divided nation?
i don't think so ... we have to move forward.

edited to add, 'IMHO.'
have a great weekend everybody..

Twelve - really? You don't think that any of the problem is the gloating "ha ha ha we were right, now think like us or shut the hell up" attitude that many republicans have voiced has anything do do with it? Who many of Bears posts these past three days have held a "come together" message. It's a two way street.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Yes fenix I think you are right but, it takes two and neither two are going to give up. It has been this way in the RT for I know at least 2 years but probably more. Many threads unrelated to politics that are posted are turned into political threads but both parties are to blame. It is the one that can out shout the other. It is the person that can post in the cruelest manner. Posters try and humiliate one another. That is when we all should give up on that thread and move on. Easy to say but difficult to do.

It is gloating, I don't deny that, how many of the posts prior to the election were demeaning to President Bush and claiming a kerry victory.... yes there should be a gloating period... some of us never gave up on the President Bush...

Matter of fact kerry's #1 cheerleader has been missing since the election... guess with kerry only winning PA was too much for the man...

I think Peepa said he had no use for the RT once the election was over. Sad.. I miss him.. Maggie

Oh come on Maggie - I can't stand Bush either but Peepa was blaming everything including red lights on the way home on him. His credibility went out the door early in the game when he started blaming things on Bush that he didn't even understand.

It's unfair, horrible and flat out evil and it's all Bush's fault too .... by the way, what is it?

Please tell me that you miss laughing at the ineptitude of it all.
