If you woke up this morning with more health than illness,
you are more blessed that the million who won't survive the week.
If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people around the world.
If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed that almost
three billion people in the world.
If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world
If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.
If your parents are still married and alive,
you are very rare.
If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
but most do not
If you can hold someone's hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can offer God's healing touch.
If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read
anything at all.
You are so blessed in ways you may never even know.

Luck is a better word than blessed. The foundation for such good fortune is luck. Some people, no matter what good choices they make or how hard they work will never be able to know such good fortune. For example, read a story about the Aids epidemic in Lavusima, South Africa. I can't consider myself "blessed" as long as I know that most people are not so lucky.

Well Helen it is a good thing when we all can have our own opinion.

I guess you are Blessed if God is shining down on you... but seems like God picks favorites...a just God, a fair God, an all loving God? I don't think so..that's where I find a problem with the entire concept..
When ever I have asked why God isn't fair loving and just to all..I always get the same answer....It is the Lords plan and we are not to question it...a non answer..

Libra, generally, we are all posting our own opinions as I did above. To make it clear, your poem which stresses the high percentage of people who are less fortunate than the reader is insensitive in my opinion.

I don't know about not questioning it. The problem is the scale of the problem is too big for the human mind to comprehend. It's not that you were given a non-answer. There is an answer. The difficulty is that the answer is simply incomrehensible by a mere human.

And that is "Blind Faith", faith in what can't be explained or is not logical The tricky part is being capable of having "Blind Faith", I guess.

No Helen. I was asking for opinions. I wasn't upset with your answer. I guess maybe I used the wrong tone of voice. It is hard to show voice on a discussion board. .
It is an email a I received this morning and opinions are what I wanted.....

Thanks, libra. I know that your intentions were good.
But for Replay, who said to me, "Spoken like a true God-hating Liberal." I want to point out that I said nothing about God and had no thought of religion when I made that first comment. But since you brought the topic up, I would like to point out that at least Jesus considered the high percentage of the less fortunate when he wrote the Beatitudes. I have never stated here that I hate your God or anyone's God. It sounds like the hate is coming from you....not me.

Actually helen your postings in the some of the religious threads are enough with anyone above a 3rd grade education to see how you feel about religion... directly stating "hate" no, but your indirectness is emense....
Faith based religion is two fold... you are either for it or against it (hate) nothing in between...
AIN'T LIFE GRAND...

That, twelvepole is typical black or white thinking that denies any presence of gray. As you point out, I have never stated that I hate God and that is because I do not.
I am for the separation of church and state. Otherwise, I generally ignore religious threads.

Sorry if the truth hurts... but when you can't admit your own feelings don't expect others here that can read not to call you on it...
You kraft are one of the biggest religion haters here... it would figure you would come to helen's aid...

Yes, that pretty much sums it up. You either believe or not.
God doesn't want slaves, he wants faith. If God just wanted a bunch of people to do every single thing he wanted with no doubts, he'd put up big signs for everyone to see. No, he wants there to be faith. He wants there to be doubt. He wants us to CHOOSE to believe in him. It's believing when there is absolutely no proof that is important... A leap of faith.
Some people will, some people won't. God does believe in free will.
And I wasn't just beaing mean to poor old Helen. Helen has made her opinion abundantly clear in multiple threads. She's no Yeager, but she ain't ChristianCoffee, either. Too bad we don't get more posts by CC.

Now, twelvepole, when have I ever needed anyone to come to my defense? I can defend myself against you with one finger...on the keyboard, that is. Lol!

sure helen, does seem funny as there is at least some who come to your aid each and everytime you are proven wrong... but hey birds of a feather flock together...

You have it ass backwards, twelvepole I wasn't proven wrong.
First, Replay claimed that I was a god hater.
YOU came along to "help Replay" with that outrageous statement by stating, "Actually helen your postings in the some of the religious threads are enough with anyone above a 3rd grade education to see how you feel about religion... directly stating "hate" no, but your indirectness is emense...".
You not only failed to support Replay's bogus statement but you proved it wrong. A premise like that would get you kicked off a third grade debate team.
KD came by to join in the discussion and laugh at your Lindaesque "argument".
"BTW...You and your buddies are so afraid of any solidarity here against your position on anything. Don't become a spineless wimperer, twelvepole."

"I leave the hate to the christians, they're so good at it !"
Now here we have a post by crowfart who ONCE AGAIN puts in size 8 shoe in her mouth
""OK Here goes:
I HATE:
People who think war, violence, and killing are the only answer to everything.
People who hate everyone who isn't exactly like themselves.
People who want to restrict the freedoms of others and then wave a flag and talk about "Freedom".
People who rag on welfare "moms" but haven't the guts to go after huge corporations who pay no income taxes whatsoever.
People who don't place the welfare of children first, who don't care about the slaughter and torture of children in another country but vote Republican because they're anti-abortion. (By the way, do they ever notice the Republicans, although running on an anti-abortion platform have FAILED to DO anything about it).?????
People who profess to honor a god but do not honor humans as creations of that god..
People, like the communists and Republicans, who think everyone should think, believe, feel, worship, and have sex in exactly the same way.
People who don't care what kind of environment we leave for future generations as long as they can make a buck.
People who complain about the price of gas and drive the biggest, ugliest vehicle no one would ever need.
A president that proclaims to honor our vets but won't provide them with proper medical care, decent food, tools to fight the war he started and thinks their returning caskets are an embarrassment.
And to round it out and really pith off mainstream America, I hate dogs and Christmas!
Have a nice day
Yea crowfart you do alot of hating yourself..ahh tell me dont you get tired of taking your foot out of your mouth, or is this an everyday occurrence??

Damn! How is it that I am mentioned here without even posting first. I guess that you are known for something, or known for nothing! What happened to CC? I think that he either reverted back to wicca, or the heat in this kitchen got too hot for him.

That is sooooo true. Ask any chirstian about the ways of god and they will tell you that you are not supposed to know about those things, just accept them and that's it.
