I'm still up Jack. Most of the posters here are either fossils or they need their beauty sleep so they're in bed by 8.
Heating oil is 55 cents per litre ($650.00 for a full tank). Gas runs around $2.74 a gallon. Oil is still cheaper than propane or natural gas here but I agree 100% - the tanks are UGLY!!!

$1.57 near my house. $1.89 two miles to the north. It so happens the people who live 2 miles to the north also have tons of $$$. Coincidence?

Cheryl,
I think that you are right on the tons of $$$ thought. In the poor areas of Detroit, the price is around 1.59. In the richer area north of Detroit, in Oakland County (which is the 3rd richest county in the country), you can except to pay at least 30 cents more.

Wait... Jack and Krafty were talking about bed times along with the cost of fuel... and they were talking about how some of us are in bed early... I never get to sleep before 1 AM.. I go to bed around midnight and read.. but if I go to bed at midnight it is only 10 PM on the West Coast right.. and 1Am on the East Coast right.. so those who quit posting at 1 AM on the East Coast will appear to be going to bed at 10 PM on the West Coast right?....oh forget it .. now I'm confused...

Unleaded regular in Santa Fe, New Mexico $2.09 a gallon.
50 miles south in Albuquerque $1.85 a gallon.
45 miles north in Espanola $1.85 a gallon.
Why is it so much more here in Santa Fe, must be all the damnn movie stars that live here that have truckloads of money.
I just had my home propane tank refilled and it was $1.79 a gallon, I got 80 gallons plus taxes came to $156.54

yellowstone: If you live in Santa Fe you can afford the high gas price. Or so I always thought. I would like to live in Santa Fe, but the price of real estate is outrageous compared to East Texas. I want the house that belonged to Carol Burnett.

Yeager, I'm not sure. I've done my best to convert to metric, and I know gas is 79 cents a litre right now & there's about 4 litres in a gallon - more than a U.S. gallon I think.
Maggie, I don't go to bed until about 3:00 in the morning. I've NEVER been a day person. Nights are where it's at for me.
I'm just wondering though, would Americans rather have higher gas prices, food prices, etc. and have socialized health care or cheap everything like you have and only insured health care?

That's 2.99USD per gallon Kraft. 1 gallon US = 3.7854118 liters.
But it's Americans who have the god given right to cheap fuel, not Canadians

Kraft says, "I'm just wondering though, would Americans rather have higher gas prices, food prices, etc. and have socialized health care or cheap everything like you have and only insured health care?"
If it was a choice....socialized health care...health care all my life whether I'm rich or poor, definitely.
But our president thinks 40 million people mostly children, don't really NEED health care so Health Care Reform will never happen under Bush. We'll have to wait .....

Why do you need socialized health care?
In my city, if you can't afford health care, go to the Public Health Care facility and receive the same treatment and medications that I have to pay for. We'll even send free transportation to get you there!

That's why I can't understand this whining about 40 million people without health care (mostly children). You just live in the wrong place. Health care and hospitilization is free for indigent patients in my area.

I'm whining because I have to pay $460.00 a month out of pocket for health care.. and a $2000.00 deductible out of pocket each and every year.
That is $7,520.00 a year to have insurance...and this plan has a short list of doctors within a 50 mile radius that are on their in- network plan which I must choose from.
I pay the first $500.00 for prescriptions before they kick in and pay a percentage.
They have the right to pick and choose which procedures they will cover after my deductible is paid...
I am not a sick person, thank God.. so basically , I am paying 7,520.00 a year to be covered in case of a catastrophic health problem... this is a chunk of change to pay year after year...I find myself not going for check-ups, or preventative care because of the cost..... Maggie

Sorry, but even if """"Health care and hospitilization is free for indigent patients in my area."""""
I don't want to have to be living on the street before I can get(afford) health care. I would be happy to pay reasonable health care insurance premiums but health care costs have escalated out of control and the present administration has done NOTHING to help.

crowfarm: indigent in my area doesn't mean living on the street. It is based on income. Some of the patients at our Public Health Facitily drive better cars than I do. I saw this every day while I was working for a large hospital in our area and calling on this facility.
If you are sick, without means or insurance, go to our ER. They cannot refuse to treat you.If you can't pay, you can't get blood from a turnip. They write off thousands of dollars a month.
There are no people in East Texas who cannot get medical care. I don't know about the rest of the country.

I guess none of us should complain as we have life easy compared to those who were recently 'liberated' and live in an oil-rich country.
In Iraq the long line-ups for gas were taking about 4 or 5 hours a couple of months ago but now they may have to wait all night if they want their tank filled.
One lady says:
"We can sometimes get black-market gasoline but the liter costs around 1250 Iraqi Dinars which is almost $1- compare this to the old price of around 5 cents. It costs almost 50,000 Iraqi Dinars to fill up the generator so that it works for a few hours and then the cost isn't so much the problem as just getting decent gasoline is. So we have to do without electricity most of the day.
Cooking gas has also become a problem. The guy who sells us the gas cylinders isn't coming around because apparently he can't get the used cylinders exchanged for full ones. People are saying that it costs around 10,000 Iraqi dinars to buy one on the street and then, as usual, you risk getting one that might explode in the kitchen or be full of water. We're trying to do more and more of our 'cooking' on the kerosene heater. The faucet water is cold, cold, cold. We can't turn on the water heater because there just isn't enough electricity. We installed a kerosene water heater some time last year but that has also been off because there's a kerosene shortage and we need that for the heaters."
