How do you feel about your IBM pc's being made and serviced by a Communist country?...
On Dec. 7, Beijing-based Lenovo Group Ltd. (LNVGY ), China's biggest computer maker, agreed to buy a controlling stake in IBM's (IBM ) PC operations for $1.75 billion. "We saw a unique opportunity in front of us," says Mary Ma, Lenovo's chief financial officer. "It is an opportunity to differentiate our products and our technology."

kraft: I called Ford Motor with a question about my bank draft payment and got a person in India. I could not understand him and finally just hung up the phone.

Good! Maybe if they get enough hang-ups from people not being able to understand them, they'll send the jobs back home where they should be.

Supposedly, there are a few corporations experiencing quality control problems in China, and have contemplated a move back to the USA.

I have experienced the same thing with a customer service call to my GE Credit Card. The woman who took the call spoke in a heavy Indian accent. I was hard to understand her. My doctor of 21 years is from India too. I have no problem understanding him. I think he has lost some of his accent along the way.

Please understand this isn't a case of outsourcing. China actually BOUGHT a major division of IBM!

China owns a LOT of the good old USA! Why not IBM?
My company was going to ship jobs to China and the plans fell flat(snicker, snicker).
Seems there's a "cultural difference"......ya, they hate us! Hahahahahaa!

Not too long ago I had a billing problem with my SBC Yahoo DSL. I spent a total of over 4 hours on the phone with some idiot in India who still couldn't set things right. Well, 3 different idiots to be exact. How many Hindus do you know named Jennifer or Erin? They speak with a heavy accent and expect you to be dumb enough to think they're in the U.S. I had to change my email address because they had the old one all screwed up. I finally got in touch with someone at SBC and gave them a tongue lashing for sending me to someone in India. I'm not the only one to complain. They are moving their tech support back to the U.S.

Everyone was worried about Japan buying everything back in the 80's. As soon as China's labor force begins demanding better pay, China's boom will end and corporations will move to another country with cheaper labor.

EAG - Ever read the Criton book Red Sun Rising? Interesting view point from the other side of the coin regarding those days. The Japanese were buying up everything in site but the problem was that US sellers were inflating prices on them. Actual property values were much lower and dropping and the end was effect was financial damage to the Japanese economy.
