I really want a new robe and I can't find one that I absolutely love and I have to absolutely love everything about it before I buy it. It has to be soft, chenille, preferably, full length, zipper front....in white or pink or yellow, or baby blue, with some whimsical something or others on it..

Well its a good idea to post it here, maybe someone can help you locate one. Have you by any chance tried J.C.Penny's? I love their jammies.

I have tried Penney's, Sears, Macy's, QVC, HSN, and I can't find what I am looking for..
I like the Stan Herman ones with the tea cups or moon and stars or something whimsical.. but for some reason I can't find one in the right color and style....

Classic.. I am so clean I squeek! LOL

Boy, Maggie, you aren't the only one. The problem is the one I wear all the time was the last thing my brother bought me before he passed in 1996. It's a Victoria Secret terry cloth robe. It's long and it's thick, but it's getting pretty shabby! I need a new one and still, I can't part with it. My boss gave me one that his wife didn't want any more. She had it lined and now it's too warm for her. It's more like a coat than a robe! It's white, THICK and lined. Unfortunately, it's too thick for me. Perhaps once the temp gets below zero. . . I may add some buttons and turn it into a winter coat. LOL! Another unworn item in my closet.

That's another thing, Cheryl.. I live in hot weather country and so I don't want one that is to thick or heavy.. I want a zip front, collar or no collar.. not important..caftan style is nice.. front not side pockets... with the whimsical thingy's as decoration, chenille or something as soft that will wash and dry without wrinkles..

Is it my imagination.. or is there a shortage of robes this winter????

Maggie
Edited to add.. What Winter??? It is still 74 degrees!

Maggie - Sounds like you want something in a Microfleece. Check Lands End. I'm not a big fan of zippered robes myself so I'm not sure who would carry them but Microfleece is a good semi thick fabric, damn near impossible to wrinkle, warm but not stifling and for some reason always seems to come in cutsy patterns.

My favorite robe is a absurdly heavyweight dark burgandy terry coth from Victorias Secret. Probably the only absolutely perfect clothing item I have ever recieved as a gift but then thats because I told the giver exactly what I wanted and wear to get it. It screams "curl up in the corner of the couch with a great book in me". I love it!

Maggie DAHling, have you tried a search on ebay for vintage chenille robe ? They are so cute and cuddly just like ME! They usually sell for an arm and a leg but are worth it and some have the most...ah...colorful(?) designs.......like a peacock on the butt!

Sounds like you have the same robe as I do. It's wonderful, isn't it? Mines getting ratty, but I'll wear it until it wears out.

Cheryl - It's the best! Some of the loops on mine have definitly seen better days but that's because my cats love it as much as I do. If it ends up on the floor it immediately becomes their resting place and with the beast, that includes a little prepratory claw work.

Microfleece

Does that come from Micro sheep? No zippers there.

That depends who you talk to Etex..LOL I try to be a good girl most of the time.. but I have to admit, I do have a mean streak...

I wanted whimsical things like teacup appliques or silly dogs, or girlie things..but the one you sent me to..is the one I am going to order! Thank you... it looks soft and comfy and I like the style.. if I need appliques badly enough.. I'll find some and sew them on myself.. LOL..
I had never heard of Blair before..
Thanks again for the suggestion.. Maggie

Hey Maggie, saw a red and white candy cane striped chenille bathrobe in an antique store today....a few pine boughs, some glitter, a ribbon and you could be a Christmas decoration!

Quit it.. Crow...you got me laughing so hard I peed my pants!....

I am going to be the very eccentric old lady with the big straw hat with flowers, pedal pushers and knee socks, riding my bicycle with the flowered basket and bell trying to run over all the little kids in the neighborhood... and proud of it.. LOL.. LOL..

If you came down to my place at Christmas, I'd get you drunk enough that you would be singing carols and dancing around the tree!

That's why, Maggie , I will stay well away from you at Christmas time .....you will lead me down the tinsel, credit card encrusted path to my doom.......and drink will do it!

Uh, suddenly I had a mental image of Peter Max pedal pushers....I don't know why,... I'm sober.
