love the doll house. I figured since I had one to repair for 5 years I would never do it so I sold it. Now I wish I had it. I really like the houses from the 50' & 60'. But they are way out of line now. I sold one I had purchased for $10.00 at an estate sale and sold it for $125.00 New in box with pieces of furniture in original bags.

If I can find my camera I will show you mine. [smile}

Thank you Libra.
I don't sell full time on Ebay Mah.. much less than I used to.
I collect Antique dolls, doll houses, antique toys and Victorian fru fru...
I sell everything that I have collected along the years from my travels...I have traveled and lived in many places here and abroad so was able to find unusual things.

I even sold a 13 foot snake skin just under a foot wide on Ebay once...before they frowned upon this kind of thing.. I brought back 10 from Africa a few years back...and ivory before it was against the law to sell, hand blown glass from Malta etc. etc..

Okay.. I guess I must be the only slob on the board... lol...actually I am a neat freak except for that one room...really..I swear... Maggie

WHICH eBay room?

A) I have a workroom at home (the "clean" room)
B) I have a large storage room at home
C) I have a shipping "warehouse-bedroom" at my parent's house where most of my reular stock and shipping supplies are stored
D) I have an actual 20x20 Office I store slow-moving things in
E) I recently gave up a rental storage locker
F) Until last year, I had a 3000 square foot store full of goodies.

If you guys aren't spreading your merchandise all over town, I can only wonder how seriously you take eBay

Replay.. I thought you sold CD's only?

You are running a business...that's for sure!

My Ebay participation has always only been a hobby. I buy more than I sell...

Good luck with your sales..
I just had a bit of good news some stock I am holding just jumped and doubled itself..that was a very nice Christmas treat!

My store was primarily CDs, books, videos. I still have some of that stuff, but over the past year I've sold off most of that.

I also still have umpteen thousands of Comic Books that take a ton of space as well, although, saying I "sell" them may be stretching things a bit, more like they are in eternal storage . Talk about SLOW SALES, you oughta try comics.

I'm primarily doing board games, card games, miniatures games nowdays. some of that stuff takes some serious SPACE! Check the link in my sig to get the real picture.

I do OK with them, but there's a ton of competition on eBay with these things.

I'm always looking for that next thing to get into.

You aren't listing to much right now Replay.. I would have thought board games would be high sellers at this time of the year.?

Do you ever sell the old Archie comics in bulk? Maggie

I shut everything down Tuesday night. The only things I currently have listed were automatically relaunched by accident

This is my "insane" season. Past the time when sensible shoppers are buying, and into the time when the nutjobs come out. I'd rather lose a few legitimate sales than deal with the kooks.

Just this morning I had an Australian buyer wanted a $25.00 Garfield Monopoly game shipped to arrive before Christmas, but she went ballistic when she found out postal shipping was $27.50 and still couldn't guarantee delivery in time. This could have been avoided had she paid two weeks ago when she actually bought the game.

I'll be re-starting either just after Christmas or whenever FLD hits. This gives me a little time off, as well as the ability to research new products and get new stuff set up to launch when I make my big comeback in a couple of weeks.

I'd show you the room Mags but it's pretty clean since for the past couple months I seem to be operating out of a suitcase. I have been traveling back and forth between my home and the family home so I just keep most inventory in a suitcase that travels back and forth. I have shipping materials in both locations so I can keep my business going until I finish helping sell off all of the folks stuff they are trying to get rid of before they leave town. Hopefully I'll have everything ready to turn over to a fulfillment company in the next couple months and then I won't have to deal with it at all. Well, not much... the plan is to come back to the states every 6-8 weeks when new inventory comes in so that I can photograph it and break it up into lots for the fullfillment company. Remind me to send you pics of the hotel room during those excursions....they should be quite special.... the housekeepers are going to love me

Fenix.. okay.. I am not getting this?
You are moving South, correct?
I thought it was a business venture.
Are you saying that you will be conducting your business here in America and possibly exporting goods from your new home? Going back and forth? You mentioned that your folks are moving too? Now I am really confused, are they going to move with you? Not being nosy.. well..maybe a little.. but I wondered if it wouldn't be easier to just find a partner in Mexico who would export the goods to you here in the States?

While I was in Nigeria...I was approached by one of the "Chief's wives", to partner with her on an import/export deal.. Unfortunately, I couldn't trust these people further than I could throw them, and wouldn't dream of getting involved...she wanted me to export leather goods purses etc to her in exchange she would send me African artifacts etc...

Anyway I digress... I have meant to ask you which part of Mexico are you moving to..
I may be your neighbor! Sometime next year, I may be moving down to the Bay of Campeche area.. only in the talking phase right now..
I just got the news...

Anyway.. best of luck on your new adventure!
I can hear the excitement in your voice..LOL.. and the fatigue as well..

::I can hear the excitement in your voice..LOL.. and the fatigue as well.::

Boy did you hit that nail on right on the head.!

OK here is the breakdown.
My parents are in the design process on the home they will be retiring to in Texas. Since as you probably know you are supposed to depersonalize your home as much as possible when you put it on the market we are going thru everything, packing what is going and selling what is not so that when the time comes, my obligations are done and their work will be minimal since most things will already be packed, labeled and in a store room ready to be loaded.

I currently have two businesses of my own,. One I am killing off which is graphic design and consulting. Too much of a hassle. The one I will continue to run is a small wholesale business. I purchase from asia and sell to europe because the depressed dollar and exchange rates gives me a healthy little profit. That business will continue to run even after I move because I will be employing a fulfillment company here in the US. I'll have my inventory shipped here to the US and for awhile I will come up to photograph, break into lots and deliver to the fulfillment company who will be dealing with everyday shipping aspects. Eventually hopefully the company will grow to a point where I can justify the costs of having the fulfillment company do everything.

In the meantime... I will be living in Guadalajara and plan to start a two fold company. One aspect will be doing native english web translation for companies looking to expand their market into the US. Aspect 2: Ideally I would like to help independent artisans and small manufacturers in Mexico that would like to start bringing in US dollars hook up with small US sellers and businesses that would like to find unique merchandise to import and sell. After all of the years I have spent on ebay and around the selling community I know there is a market - I just need to figure out a way to connect the two sides.

Keeping the existing wholesale business will provide me with an income that will enable me to take the time to find a way to do it in a way that is most beneficial to all involved.

I guess you could call me an idealistic capitalist

Good for you Fenix! The very best of luck with your business projects.. It sounds like you will be burning the candle at both ends for some time to come.. be sure to take care of your health....Anyone with your work ethic and drive is surely going to have great success!

Once you find your way around all of the red tape it will be a piece of cake! One word of advice...expect a slower pace..I think that was the most difficult thing for me to accept and adjust to...we expect things done , signed, sealed and tied with a big red bow in the blink of an eye.. this translates in many other countries as done in a week or two, signed a couple of weeks later when we get the proper forms, sealed after several signatures of approval and forget the bow.. oh..and remember a little palm greasing often speeds up the process.. LOL..

Good Luck again..Maggie

LOL - If there is one thing I have learned just from spending time with friends in Mexico it is that time is very elastic within the culture. I get teased alot. When they are with me in the US they say I am like the Tazmanian Devil going in a hundred different directions at once. They say they like me much more when I am on their side of the border. I relax more and actually turn the phone and pager off. I'll just have to try to make sure I don't take too much of the US me with me when I move.

Thank you BTW. I do appreciate the kind words

Maggie

I'd love to share my eBay room, but I can't find my camera. Now, I know it's here somewhere. . . .nope, that's not it. Oh, that's where I put Monday's cup of coffee. Now if I could only find the floor, I'd be able to find my shoes. . . .Hey, car keys, are you in here anywhere. Oh why don't you answer me. . .

Anyway, you get the idea.
