Hi There ...
I emailed this question to Vendio - but I wanted to list an auction this afternoon if possible & thought maybe someone could answer it here faster.
Im just starting to list some stuff again after being MIA for quite a while now.
I think I understand the fees for image hosting that have gone in to affect since I was last here ... BUT I only list once in a while - do I have to pay the minimum 2.95 monthly fee for image hosting even when Im not running any auctions ??
I sometimes go for months and months at a time with no listings - getting charged every month would be ridiculous ~ does anyone know how this works for the occasional seller ?

Hi..I'm an occaisional seller also. Have you ever thought of hosting your pics at your ISP? Most service providers give you 40 megs or so of space for a personal website or file storage, as part of your deal. They could walk you through uploading your pics. It's a bit of a learning curve, but you might not have as many picture outages as Vendio seems to have been experiencing lately.. Just a thought. I've never really understood why people pay money to someone to host their pics, whether for Ebay or not.

Ok .... I talked to someone with my isp (sbc/yahoo) & it seems that they do host images for you BUT you cannot upload them to EBAY !!!
He says it is because Yahoo has their own auction site & it is in competition with them.

another place you might try that I've used for storage is fotki.com
They have unlimited storage for 30 bucks a year and the interface is really easy to use. They also allow Ebay linking. They have a free account also, but I'm not sure if they let you link to auctions with the free account. Here's a clip from their sign up page:
As a free Fotki member you will be able to:
Create public and private photo albums
Upload multiple photos from any type of computer, using any operating system
Make your photos easy to find and control by organizing them into as many albums and folders as you wish
Conveniently and quickly share your photos with your family and friends
Order high quality photo prints of any photos from your or somebody else's albums at a very low price
Protect your folders and albums with a password
Monitor how many visitors and hits your albums have received
Read photo comments and guest book messages that your visitors have left
Get support online by using our Customer Service Center and by phone
As a premium Fotki member, for only $30 a year, you will be entitled to all of the above plus you will be able to:
Get unlimited storage space for your photos
Apply your own design to your Fotki albums to seamlessly integrate them with your existing web site
Get considerable discounts on our already low-priced photo prints from your or somebody else's albums
Participate in our photo contests either by submitting your own works or by voting on others'
Use your photos on auctions, forums and chat rooms

I would really rage at sbc/yahoo over this one! I have them as well. You pay for the service and part of that service is photo storage. No where does it say when you sign up that you can't upload to anywhere but Yahoo. When I've had complaints about SBC/Yahoo DSL, I've complained directly to SBC. Try them. Yahoo's tech support is in India and they're a bunch of idiots over there. They totally screwed up my email address and I had to go through the bother of creating another one. The techs could not figure out how to fix it.
You will probably get more answers by posting on the EO board. Good luck to you.
