Why are men so scared of women that are brighter than them? Is it just a simple case of ego? Is there some unwritten rule out there that says men should know more? Is there a contest going on for knowledge? Is this what happens when one sex starts to lose "seniority" while the other gains momentum? Is this the unraveling of the I'm-the-stronger-sex syndrome only to reveal neither is stronger and what men have been taught about this all along has been bunk?

Yes Krafty - they must feel that they are the smarter creature. This weekend I was watching Ike: Countdown to D-Day with friends. One of the guys kept going on and on about the filming of the movie and how it was all done on location in Normandy (intersting first all all since the movie is about the planning that did not take place in France). I tried to correct him and prompty had my head bitten off. Rather than continue the arguement, I made him watch the "making off" special feature which included information about the 19 day compleete shooting schedule in... New Zealand. Men are total egocentric pains. On the upside... this trait also makes them disgustingly easy to manipulate.
On the upside... find one taller than you that enjoys working out and they don't care if who is smarter because they feel physically dominant.

Shallowness, petiness, stupidity, etc. have plenty of homes in both genders. There are certain people (men and woman) who feel insecure around others they perceive as being "smarter." That said, the male ego is probably as common culprit as any for why men have trouble admiting they're wrong (and that goes for dealings with other men - not just women).
As a man, I can only truly speak for myself and since I married a woman who is far and away smarter than I am, I don't really have hang ups about intelligence. Smart is sexy.

Did ya ever notice, Kraft, that the second they realize you are much brighter than they are they attack your looks(even if they can't see you!), and your sexuality(as if THEY'RE the judge of it???????) Imagine! They actually think they are the judge of women!
They're not all that silly and pathetic but this chat room is loaded.............

KD, it has to do with ego. For women it is looks. I learned long ago that I could demolish the most beautiful woman in the world with just one incomplete sentence, "Gosh, You are SOOOO beautiful, except for.....," mumble mumble.

Don't try KD....no one has been able to fully explain men to women and women to men. Just love them for their differences. They tend, on the whole, to be more logical while women tend to be more emotional. Works great with the two together.
As far as 'smarts'. I think as the stats show...women do better in the language skills...men tend to do better in the science and math skills. There are tons of intelligent women...and I don't think any man who's worth his weight is put off by their 'smarts'. I'd think they'd only be more proud of their 'lady's' intelligence...and lucky to have her sharing their lives.
We need each other....for balance and happiness.

How about all those men who are SO UNemotional that they beat and murder the women they "love"...Toally illogical !!!!
How about the "men" who attack a woman's looks the minute she disagrees with them....totally illogical especially when they have NO IDEA how the woman looks.

I don't think Ken's bothered by women being smarter. But then again. . . . What I have been noticing is his annoying habit of correcting everyone on the tiniest of details. If you mis-pronounce something, he feels the need to correct you in mid-sentence even if it's trivial. I'm sure it has caused embarrassment to some people we know and socialize with. Most people would let it go, but not Ken. We argue about his need to be always right a lot. I guess I don't have to tell you I've made it my life's mission to do the same to him. Only, I'm more effective. I'm good at rubbing it in.

LOL, twelve! Is that why there are so many homely looking men with beautiful women on their arms? Such is the case of the Cleveland Brown's player and the Playboy bunny? Mind is on a vacation this morning and I can't think of their names, but she just went through a court case involving assault over this man. She's beautiful and he's definitely not.

Good example Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee) his wife during the first movie... well she was a pig.
He divorced soon after...
