Romney, the rich guy game show host. The only one who'll appeal to the "base".
You know, he's the one who'll appeal to all you rich people who are going to vote for McCain.

Condi will appeal to lots of people. After all, she just made a deal with Poland to put U.S. missile presence there to help protect them from Iranian missiles.

Does anyone else suspect the major reason Obama selected Biden (not a bad choice) was because a McCain/Biden ticket would be very hard to run against? Biden hinted that he might be favorable to running with McCain..

You think that's hard to run against???
According to virtually any political analyst, he was picked (I would not use the term "Obama picked" to "reassure people" that their candidate with no experience who has done nothing has "it covered".
And the counter argument is "he picked somebody because he's worried he's clueless about foreign policy". Along with Biden's baggage and unceasing ability to shoot himself in the foot.
I'm sure the GOP is terrified. Especially as the announcement usually brings a spike in the polls (didn't happen). Gallup claims more that 50% of voters say a presidential candidate’s spouse is an important factor in their vote. They're trotting Michelle out for a speech tonight. I'm sure the GOP is terrified of her too!

Gallup on the dream team:
"Just 14% of registered voters interviewed in a new USA Today/Gallup poll say Biden makes them more likely to vote for Obama in November and 7% say less likely while 72% say he will not have much effect on their vote."

Supposedly, McCain will be choosing Romney.
It would be great if McCain could convince Colin to be his running mate
McCain is to cheap to spend the $5.00 to get his VP from the ULC. Besides I do not think the right winged conservatives are ready to have a so called reverend that looks like a reject from Twisted Sister as VP. What experience would that bring to the ticket?

WHAT?? sometimes I think, I must speak another language
Colin Powell is no reject!
He has received two Presidential Medals of Freedom, the President’s Citizens Medal, the Congressional Gold Medal, the Secretary of State Distinguished Service Medal, and the Secretary of Energy Distinguished Service Medal.
He served in the army 35 years, and rose to the rank of 4-star General.
He served as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest military position in the Department of Defense.
He served as Secretary of State
I do not think Colin is a reject and would be ecstatic if McCain could land him as the VP candidate.
YEP I stand by my statement -
It would be great if McCain could convince Colin to be his running mate

Deur, LD was tongue-in-cheek referring to "Rev." Colin, a past poster on this board. Edited to add, I like Colin Powell, too, but he so differs with McCain on the war and has not endorsed him, I don't think it's going to happen.

Thanks Pixia -- I remember REV. ( smile)
Gosh I thought, surely no one thought Colin Powell was a $5 pick. LOL,
Someone mention Condi Rice and I said it would be great if he picked Colin. I agree no way would Colin Powell be on the ticket.
To be honest though McCain is not an insider even in his own party. He is not quite a traditional mainstream Republican and yet not a Democrat.
IMO,that is not all bad.
I would not be surprised if he picked a Democrat.

IMHO Condi Rice is the least likely VP nominee. She is irrevocably linked to Bush, which any candidate is running hard to avoid.

Condi would not be a good pick, not this election.
I do not care for Romney (JMO). I really hope it is not Huckabee- I do not think McCain would pick him anyway.
Almost all the Republicans I like are basically setting this one out.
I could live with Tom Ridge or Lieberman.

Deur, I think that a cross-over candidate would be the best choice for McCain to win over the undecided and unhappy-with-Obama Clinton supporters. This will be a close election. Biden was an obvious McCain choice and I think this was a preemptive factor in Obama choosing his VP.

I had a 50% choice of which "Colin" was being referred to.
C. Powell would be a good choice for a VP someday. I feel right now he doesn't want to run because of the war and the fact he had to present Bush's reasons for war in front of the United States. I feel that disaster is why he decided to drop out of Bush's cabinet after Bush's first term.

They dont need another military/foreign policy candidate.
Mit Romney is considered because he understands the economy, not war/

Does McCain really think that this woman will bring in the disgruntled Hillary voters? Does he think she is of the same caliber as Hillary? (or Romney?) Good lord. He really IS senile.
Of course what would you expect from someone who calls his own wife the "C" word? All women are the same to him.

Yeah, those Republicans sure are dumb.
Imagine choosing a woman...... Those millions of women who think their chick champion was cheated out of the nomination are going to be befuddled.
The GOP should get it together just like Obama, who has more self inflicted foot wounds than any candidate in history.
They say you have no experience, so you choose a veep because he has experience.
You say McCain is "old", then choose a veep with bad hair plugs and 2 cerebral hemorrhages.
You comment that McCain doesn't know all of his wife's corp owned residences and your house was financed by a mobster.
Yeah, you're right Rove sure isn't running Obama's campaign.
