Next time somebody tries to play the “Obama has no experience” card on you, send this to them. It’s intensely well researched:
Obama’s Senate Accomplishments
Much has been made of Obama’s lack of accomplishments, that he hasn’t done anything, that he’s an empty suit, and all the other inexperience meme’s you can think of.
********************************
It has really been bothering me - the charges that Obama is all talk and no action. Those of us who support him and have reviewed his record know there is no basis to this charge, but just to make sure, I went to the Congressional Record (www.thomas.gov) and did a search for bills sponsored or co-sponsored by Senator Obama in his three short years in the US Senate. I searched the 109th and 110th Congresses which cover the years 2005-2007.
In a nut shell I found:
Senator Obama has sponsored or co-sponsored 570 bills in the 109th and 110th Congress.
Senator Obama has sponsored or co-sponsored 15 bills that have become LAW since he joined the Senate in 2005.
Senator Obama has also introduced amendments to 50 bills, of which 16 were adopted by the Senate.
His record is in fact quite impressive for a junior Senator from Illinois.
Most of his legislative effort has been in the areas of:
* Energy Efficiency and Climate Change (25 bills)
* Health care (21 bills) and public health (20 bills)
* Consumer protection/labor (14 bills)
* The needs of Veterans and the Armed Forces (13 bills)
* Congressional Ethics and Accountability (12 bills)
* Foreign Policy (10 bills)
* Voting and Elections (9 bills)
* Education (7 bills)
* Hurricane Katrina Relief (6)
* The Environment (5 bills)
* Homeland Security (4 bills)
* Discrimination (4 bills)
And the full details including bill numbers? Keep reading. I promise you will be impressed!
The following information was put together by Helenann. I am not using blockquotes to save space.
**********************************
Below I summarize Senator Obama’s legislative record in the US Senate. First I list the bills he sponsored that have become law. Next I summarize the bills that he has sponsored or cosponsored since he became a US Senator in 2005.

Thanks Roadsmith,
A friend just sent me (for the third time) an anti-Obama e-mail - not any of the real vile stuff. The first two I ignored, but this one focused on the inexperience argument, so I copied your list and added some other pro Obama and anti-McCain thoughts.

Wow--and I thought he was sitting around eating bon bons all this time. Obama's list of accomplishments is quite impressive, isn't it? Thanks, Roadsmith.

Thanks again, Roadsmith...I fired that one off to the evil step-mother. I'm guessing she won't read it all anyway and I'll receive another blazing, all-caps tirade about what a Muslim he is and how we'll all have out heads chopped off and our eyes gouged out.

My father's reply...thankfully, he doesn't share the evil step-mother's tendency towards histrionics... just a measured, reasonable response:
Since, in the two years this guy spent in congress, he was on the campaign trail most of the time by far how could he possibly have voted so many times in congress? The answer is simple; they are counting all the multiple riders and attachments (earmarks) that are routinely attached to an important bill. There just is no other way that this "record" can be possible.
Other than pointing out that Obama has been in the Senate for 3 years, not 2, I haven't come up with any other reply for him. Anybody?
