Yesterday it was reported that our dearly departed MEG - yes our little Meg is thinking about running against Arnold in California for Governor. We have raised her up to be such a public servant a real hero of the people GOSH a Savior!!!..... yes you sense a mocking tone in my words

YIKES. If she does run, we need to start telling the voters about how she "served" eBay.

Did anyone see the interview with the new (black) mayor of Sacramento, Kevin Johnson? He's very smart, wellspoken, likeable. I said to my husband that if KJ does a good job as mayor, he might someday be aiming for governor.

to be totally pc-

"black"?

not sure what that has to do with becoming mayor.

"well spoken"???

as if it's a surprise that a black person could actually speak.

i can't remember the last time I heard someone say a white person is well spoken. why does it always have to be a black person?

Shag! No offense intended. I've often referred to white people as wellspoken. I don't think that's a racial marker.

FWIW, I also refer to people of all ethnic groups as being well-spoken, because it has become such a rare thing. I always marveled, for example, that Steffi Graf (the German tennis player for those of you that don't know) could give a better interview in English than 99% of our native athletes. She might have had an accent, but her words were well-chosen.

back to Meg. Isn't Arnold still popular with the Republicans? Why would any Republican run against him for governor?

In California elected officials term out. I don't recall if Arnold is in his second term, but if he is, he can't run again.

It's a good thought, to give people just two terms, but what that means in reality is that you have lots and lots of state legislators who don't know squat, and by the time they do learn what they need to know, they have about 3 years left before having to bow out.
