I would like to propose a much needed addition to the AW Forums ...... the AW Verified Opinion Police Task Force, or AWVOPTF for short. The sole purpose of this "sanctioned" group would be to decide whether a posted opinion by an AW member is irrelevant, misguided, unworthy, uninformed, outrageous, untrue, offensive, ignorant or just plain stupid. I'm sure there are other criteria that I've missed and I'm hoping that others will help in that regard.

We need to agree on the proper punishment for the guilty parties and although I'm leaning toward the tried and true "three times and you're out" rule, I would appreciate your input as well.

1. The first offense: A public warning by way of a post by the AWVOPTF in the AW Round Table Forum which reveals your user ID as well as your opinion violation along with the removal of your posting privileges to ANY public board or chatroom for a period of two weeks.

2. The second offense: A public warning by way of a post by the AWVOPTF in the AW Round Table Forum which reveals your user ID as well as your opinion violation followed by a public bashing along with the suspension of your posting privileges to ANY public board or chatroom for a period of one month and a public apology by way of a post in the AW RT to all of the AW members that you annoyed with your opinion violation which must be at least 1,000 words in length and must continue to be prominently displayed on the first page of the AW Round Table Forum for the entire 30 days of exile. (YOU have to keep bumping the thread to the top)

3. The third and final offense: Permanent expulsion and SHUNNING from and by all of the AW Forums as well as ALL other public boards and chatrooms which will be publicly (or publically) announced in a post by the AWVOPTF in the AW Round Table Forum followed by a prominently displayed public MANIFESTO by the guilty party which must remain on the first page of the AW RT for a period of 60 days (the MEMBERS have to keep bumping the thread to the top) and will certainly be picked up and reported by the PTB that run the Gossip Boards in order to inflict yet more humiliation upon the opinion violator. This action will basically force the offender to a lifetime of listening and responding to their own opinions or forcing them on their family members or pets and will keep the AW Forums as well as ALL other public forums and chat boards safe.

The above list of punishments is in no way written in stone and I would love to hear your suggestions concerning this matter, especially in regard to finding an alternative to forcing an innocent pet to listen to an eternity of violated opinions. Also, after we get the AW Verified Opinion Police Task Force up and running I would like to suggest the need for another special group ...... the AW Verified Spell Checker Task Force, or the AWVSCTF for short.

I think the TAWVOPTF members should be elected by the majority of the AW members and the nominations of worthy individuals should commence immediately. Any takers out there?

Any and all suggestions will be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Blanche (BTW, this is a proposition and is NOT an OPINION)

Unfortunately, odds are there's always going to be somebody on the other side of an opinion, and the sides (like Paypal TOS) seem to switch daily, if not hourly.

So with your system, by now everybody here but lurkers would've been "out" about sixty times apiece. Only solutions I see are either limit one's entire catalog of posts to less than two (completely eliminating the chance of obtaining three "strikes", or affect being of two minds on every issue.

Gonna have to give him a badge though, Blanche, or he won't do it...

Cuffs would be nice, too.

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that AW considers discussing a suspended member a breach of etiquette. I'm sure you all understand our position.

"...I'm sure you all understand our position."

Is that kinda like, "Assume the position"?

I'm sorry Pat. I totally forgot he was busted.

HCQ, your statement "So with your system, by now everybody here but lurkers would've been "out" about sixty times apiece" is the very goal that I hope we can accomplish with the AWVOPTF. If we can totally get rid of any and all opinions, we will have less conflict and we'll have the added advantage of making the forums easier to read by shortening the threads.

BTW, I hope your post didn't express an OPINION!!

Anyone else have the Hawaii Five-0 song running through their head?

Oops - I didn't understand your purpose.

I think you should add a Hurt Feelings Clause.

But wouldn't it be more efficient merely to require every poster to first undergo a frontal lobotomy? I can contact a local neurosurgeon; maybe he'll let me auction lobotomies on consignment.

HCQ, I think you're right about the frontal lobotomy suggestion and I've decided that my proposal may need some revision. I woke up this morning to find my cat huddled in the corner with abject FEAR in her eyes which I can only attribute to her assessment that I'm a very opinionated individual and will be one of the first to be expelled from the forum. Since my family members no longer reside in my home, the full brunt of my punishment will be placed on Kirby's shoulders and I don't think she's up to the task. I'll have to come up with something else that doesn't put me at risk.

lotsafuzz, the music from Hawaii Five-O is a good choice but I was thinking more along the lines of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti western - Hang 'Em High.
