We spent the day (ok, maybe it was just a couple of hours-that seemed like the whole day! LOL) in the costume store yesterday!....If I saw one more "scream" mask/costume I thought I would start screamin'!!!!....
For scary alternatives, how's about a "headless person": using a large jacket or shirt the person pulls it over their head (leaving a small hole or unbuttoned space for "seeing", then add a head or skull for carrying...This can also be done using a tiny head on a stick into the collar of the jacket/shirt & then the person becomes a "shruken head" person....

Or, in light of the Exorcist's return....how's about bein' Linda Blair....Ugly makeup on the face, hair messed up...All clothing worn backwards to give the appearance of the head being turned 180 degrees in a totally unatural position....

Or, a bit scary, but actually comical....The Cereal Killer....Small boxes of cereal attached to a shirt, knives & blood on the boxes/shirt....

This year I've got a Devil & a Knight to escort on the candy beggin' routine....What ever happened to pirates & superman & cavemen & policeman????.....

ZAZZIE! Awesome to see you again!

rancher, funny you should mention the Scream costume... my mom brought one out when she was visiting thinking I could sell it on eBay but my older son nabbed it. So I'll be having one Scream and one Pokemon Charmeleon (my younger son) gracing our streets on Halloween, lol.

Oh, how 'bout a black widow spider for your 11 year old?
I'm thinking of doing that myself... might trek up to Lahaina this year for the annual parade and city-wide party before trick-or-treat time, the whole island goes nuts on Halloween... it's known as the 'Mardi Gras of the Pacific'

Zazzie..ask her what is the scariest thing she can think of to be for Halloween and how she thinks you could put together a costume that would look like that.
you might be surprised.
Maybe if the idea originated with her it might be met with more of a positive response. (Well it works with two and three year olds it might work with eleven year olds)

Muriel LOL!
George Dubya ought to be an easy squeezy costume... just make a dunce cap!
