after reading spaz's thread, I though, just for a heck of it, I'll finger-press my bathroom scale (note: BATHROOM scale! NOT your mail nor your counter scale! good try though).
you pick it up, face it towards your friend/mirror, press it with your fingertips with all your might, and your friend/mirror will tell you the weight of your fingers:

no cheating folks

*grunts and squeezes * *whew*
OK
mine's about 90 pounds

what's yours?

Decided to try this last night. I got to 100 lbs. I'm guessing that different scales react to this differently as I really don't believe that.

Hubby got a chuckle out of it anyway.

My middle finger has all the strength it needs to start upright perfectly when the situation demand it.

Reminds me of one of my Mom's infamous misquotes. She got really angry with some yahoo while driving one day. Middle of Summer, she leaned her head out the window and yelled "OH, UP YOUR BIRD!!!"

She'll never live that one down.

When I was hired for my current position I had to have a physical. The city seems to use the same physical for a variety of jobs, so one of the things I was required to do was take a test that measures the strength in your hands (weird when you consider I'm a librarian ). They handed me a gizmo that has a handle you squeeze and a gauge that displays how many pounds of pressure you exert. I learned that I can exert 80 pounds of pressure with my right hand and 72 pounds of pressure with my left--which is quite good for a woman I am told. That might explain why many of my work-out partners in Kung Fu (mostly men mind you) complain that I am gripping too hard when I don't think I am holding on all that hard at all

bunni, You work late too?

I have enough strength in my one little pinky finger to make it possible to breath freely thru a nostril.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

kitsch1: no, not working (public libraries aren't open this late )...I'm just a nightowl by nature. Will have to toddle off to bed soon, though, as I have a full day planned for tomorrow (which is actually today now)

I have a full day planned tomorrow too. Sleep till noon and then do everything possible with my kiddos. Prolly going to do the buffalo trail (a good little stroll to say the very least) and then a movie from blockbuster.

Lord! I miss my kids.

Sweet dreams
