So, which do you like best? The straight straws or the ones that bend near the top?

With a chest like mine it's bendy straw or wear the drink. Think about it

I believe we have a concensus. Wouldn't it be nice if the presidental election were this straightforward?

I have a pet peeve when it comes to straws. My husband likes to squish them flat when he drinks from them, and if we're sharing a drink it really sets my teeth on edge to wrap my lips around a lame, flattened straw when I'm expecting a perfect cylinder.

I hate straws~never use them. My vote goes to the third party~the straight from the glass party.

Depends. If there's a LOT of ice, I prefer a bendy straw. If there's a little ice, or none at all, I'm a straight-from-the-glass gal.

Why am I always in the minority?

I like the straight ones.

Hey! What ever happened to crazy straws anyway? They were all bent around and around in circles. Anyone remember what I am talking about here? Sure wish I could find a case of new old stock of them to list for sale on ebay - would probably go as fast as PS2. :^)

My Votes: No ice = No straw
With Ice = Straight straw

Sword013....I know what happened to "crazy straws"....My kids have cornered the market on them!....They clog up my utensil draw (causing a jam almost everytime I go to open the draw)....They make glasses tip over (causing the contents to spill all over the place)....&....They are IMPOSSIBLE to clean/dry!!!!.....But STILL they remain lots of fun, especially for blowing bubbles (remember blowin' bubbles?)....I have originals (thick & heavy) but there are imitations out there that can be had for a buck at the $1.00 stores

How's about the Taco Bell Eyeball straws??....Those are pretty cool!....Or the 7-11 Brain Freeze slurpee straws that change color with the temperature of the drink!

A piece of trivia - drinking straws were first patented in 1888:

Unquestionably bendy!

And here are my requirements:

Beverage with Ice = straw required
Beverage with No Ice = straw is nice, but not totally critical
Canned Beverage (Coke or whatever) = straw absolutely required (ugh ... can't stand the thought of a possibly dirty can!)
Adult Beverage = straw required, little umbrella optional. No cherries or other fruit floating around, please!

Under no circumstances shall the bendy straw be placed into the drinking container upside down! (Hubby gets in twubble for putting the bendy part of the straw down in my Coke!)

Edited to add: Also, there needs to be a law making ALL straws the same diameter! You go to Wendy's, get a sip of your Coke, and get two drops because their straw is toothpick-sized. You go to McDonald's, get a sip of your Coke, and drown because their straws are like PIPES! And restaurants should be required to provide bendy straws as well.

In addition: Husbands should NOT be allowed to pull the end of the wrapper off a restaurant straw, blow into the end, and shoot the remaining straw wrapper at you! he he (Of course, ME shooting HIM with the straw wrapper is a different matter entirely, and is allowed ... even encouraged!)

I'm a straight straw person myself...bendy ones seem to always have a pinhole in one of the bends and you suck up air...

I have sensitive teeth and straws are used for drinking just about everything...

from reading one of the other postings it occurs to me that having a small frame make bendy straws unneccessary for me...no corners to get around, come to think of it I kinda look like a couple straws with a head on top...kinda makes me wish I needed a bendy straw.

I hear Bush prefers the straight ones because his coke gets stuck in the ripples of the bendy ones. (of course this is just a rumor)
