I started the cat lovers thread but what about our poor little pups that are now feeling left out?
Share your dog stories & pics with other dog lovers!
Here's my Alexis: She a miniature pinscher, now 9 months old and weighs 6 pounds. When I bought her she was 8 weeks old and less than 3 pounds.

She's a doll! We are thinking of getting a dog-maybe a weimaraner. Anyone has one of those?

Thanks mimi! She loves to pose for pictures - she is the center of attention no matter where she is!
I've never heard of a weimaraner. Do you have a pic of one?
When I was at the vets I saw the most unusual looking dog - it was a Whippet. A beautiful but also strange looking dog. Ever see one of those?

ExecutiveGirl, if you've ever seen any of William Wegman's photographs - dogs dressed up as humans in one pose or another - then you've seen Weimaraners. They are sometimes called "gray ghost" dogs.

Whippets are related to greyhounds. Bred for speed. I seem to recall reading about lots of back and hip problems with them?

This is Dixie ~ she is a Blue Ribbon Yellow Lab ~ she graduated Top Dog in her school! Santa brought her that stuffed puppy when my then 3 year old decided that Dixie needed a puppy, well it has been 3 year and Dixie still loves that pup!

Silkmoth: Hmm.. I don't even know who William Wegman is! So I don't think I've ever seen one of those dogs.. at least I don't think I have...
When I saw the whippet I do remember it reminded me of a Greyhound so that makes sense that they are related to the Greyhound. I don't know anything about them - but if you saw the same dog I saw you would have thought it did have back and/or hip problems. It looked and walked funny. Poor thing. I hate to see animals in any kind of pain!

ExecutiveGirl, Alexis is a cute ham
katzname, what a great pic! Very cute
Lemme see if I can rummage around in the basement here and dig up some more pics of gunther (as she starts to throw misc tools and other old garbage out the door on her way down the stairs...)

Great dogs. I'm going to go dig up some pictures of mine. I have a black german shepard. Weimaraners are really nice dogs, very smart and playful. We used to take care of one when the owners went on vacation, when I was young. I really looked forward to the time he was with us.

silkmoth: you are right! Oops!
(Sorry Muriel for the wrong instructions!!)
Muriel: Your dogs are ADORABLE! What kind of dog is Lauren? She looks to be almost the same size as Alexis.
More pics of Alexis:
This one is when I first brought her home from the pet store. She had a little harness on (the smallest size you can get) and it was huge on her!

Muriel: So THAT'S Lauren! I did read about her in your other thread... I did not comment on that thread - but with your details I could actually picture everything very clearly...
I've been saying my next dog is going to be a miniature dashund. They are SO cute!!

We have our second Weimaraner-and wouldn't have anything else!
They run about 70 pounds, and are the gentlest, smartest dogs. Our boys grew up with the first one, laid on her, rode on her, and never a growl. It was like losing a child when she died. Our police chief immediately gave us one of his puppies, Merlin, who we have now.
Just an example of how smart they are, when he's being a pest, DH will ask him "Want to go to the pen?" and he will immediately go sit down! I decided to wash and pack his cookie jar yesterday, for the move. He keeps going and looking in that box, and then looking at me, like "Is this going on Ebay?" You could tell how worried he was about his jar being packed up! Even my daughter in law says that he is part human, because he seems to understand everything you say to him.
As you can see, we are Weimer lovers-but for a very good reason-they are wonderful, gentle, loving dogs-and big enough to scare the boogers away!

Labs make great pets for children too ~ our Dixie will let my kids do anyting to her ~ and my youngest daughter loves to get in her basket with her. She comes unglued when she thinks their uncle is playing too rough with them! My youngest even takes her bowl of food away while she is eating, she just looks at her with her puppy dog eyes and waits for her to put it back down. Labs are very gentle and can be trained to be great dogs ~ Our Dixie lives in the house ~ goes to her basket when she is told and lets the bad guys know that ain't nobody coming in her house!

Introducing "YelloMel's Rochford Gulch" call name "Rock"...He is 90#'s of pure love!!
I showed him Dixie's picture, and he really liked it....He wanted u to let Dixie know that he is a Scorpio who like long walks in the park, toilet water, carrying a stuffed teddy bear (goose size) around the house, and sniffing buts. He is currently single, and is ready for an honest relationship with a lady of similar interests (special attention given to blonde applicants)

krs, please tell me you were joking when you called people's pets ugly mutts. You know, insulting a person's pet is just not good manners. And you know good manners are part of basic etiquette, right?
